IRWIN Record SP5 Jack Plane 50mm (2in)
I cannot comment on the actually quality of this tool, however Irwin are a decent brand and I have the smaller SP4 version which I paid over £20 for which does a good job.
As with most hand tools including the top Lie Nielsens and Veritas you should carry out a little tuning on the plane before using for best results.
Features:
IRWIN Record Jack Plane that is manufactured to uncompromisingly high standards, and is suitable for both hard and soft woods. Supplied with 2 inch tungsten vanadium cutter blades.
Designed for the initial preparation of rough timber the long base bridging undulations which a shorter plane would tend to follow.
Length: 355mm (14in).
Width: 50mm (2in).
SP5: Plastic Handle (Economy).
IRWIN Record Jack Economy Plane, with tungsten vanadium cutter is competitively priced and features, screw adjustment for depth of cut and lever for lateral adjustment.

This is the SP5 with the plastic handle, about this price inc delivery.
Dunno about their planes but if they're as good as their 230mm reciprocsting saw blades it should be great.
Demolished a strong shed (10'x6') with embedded screws and nails using just 1 blade, about £3 worth.

Better off buying an old Record or Stanley, you can pick them up pretty cheap off eBay, the old planes are the best.

These are not the Irwin Record tools that you may remember from years past. They are just branding them now, it's standard Chinese fare. Not to run down the Chinese planes, they make some exceptional stuff these days but this isn't one of them. Even worse than the Mexican Stanely plane efforts.

Yes electric planes rule, my old jack plain is slowly going rusty somewhere, can't bring myself to throw it out, suppose if we leave the EU, and civilisation ends as we know it, ( well according to the stay in guys ) it would come in handy as there will be no electricity :smirk:.
