I have a lot of furniture from IKEA and i do have to admit the quality is going down hill. I am gutted as I really like their designs on some things and of course their prices.

I went to the IKEA in Thurrock not long after it opened. Awful experience, not been back since.

I like ikea, furniture is different from most stores, prices are reasonable and i dont expect it to last forever, its nice to move on to different room themes. You cant do that if you buy ercol and cover it in a blanket. I like the warehouse, especially Thurrock, the room layouts give me good ideas, and its easy to find my way around. Although ive never bought any big furniture like sofas or beds so i cant say what they last like. Mostly cupboards and tables etc.

the actual quality is better when you assemble at home as it hasn't been shagged out by all the customers passing through daily

Ikea is excellent especially when compared to its main competitors like argos and similar.
And in all seriousness the assembly instructions are excellent (there the same as the instructions for lego)

Having read all of the comments I have very intelligently been able to summarise people's thoughts on ikea. Here goes -
Some people like ikea and some people don't

IKEA: fun, colourful stuff in a warm moderately clean spacious environment with seats for people who need them, restaurant, provision for children, oh and TOILETS. And a customer service department.
Aldi and lidl: Umm yeah.
You're comparing apples and mouldy apples on that one lol

For those moaning about quality, of course it isn't going to be the same as bespoke handmade furniture, but neither is the price. If you look after it then of course it will last, it's when people start abusing it and using it for tasks it was never intended for that it will start to fail.

You are wrong, I am afraid. I do not go either Aldi or Lidl but going to Waitrose  and to answer my question it seem NO....

Does anyone know if there is a list of what's included. I don't want to drag myself there unless there is something I want/need.

The Thurrock store opened 20 years ago. That's a long time to hang on to a bad memory of a shopping experience without ever giving them a second chance!

it sounds like you need a family card to get this discount, which leads me to ask "how do you get a family card? do you have to make a kid to qualify?"

Family of 1 is acceptable too. (Their words, not mine: Some clubs are for the select few, but the IKEA FAMILY is for everyone)
