This one. Not sure if it'll actually work but looks simple and clean enough. Need to hunt down a slate 17 owner!

I see, thanx for that.
Out of interest, what App did you see/find for Screen Rotation?, thanx. :-)

Found an app, but now the gamble would be if it would work. I see no reason that it shouldn't, but ...! Thanks for the advice.
HP released 2 tablets back in 2014 I think, 7 and 8 inch versions? I forget the exact details, but basically shortly afterwards HP announced they were to focus on high end markets. A news article here sort of explains it. What resulted was a massive gold rush to get these tablets because the prices were slashed.

Don't give up so easily, this is Android..... There are plenty of apps that will rotate a screen (if a tablet can't do so nativity).

Sure, but I always preface my explanation that it is a personal preference and also requirement due to my eye sight.
I've demoed some tablets before and found the optimal size for a few things I enjoy doing on them to be as follows:
6inch (Nexus 6, also my phone) - Mangas (japanese comics), portable, can hold in one hand, not too heavy, readable on the move or when still
12.9inch ipad pro - Magazines. Large enough to not need to zoom into the page to read certain bits (didn't enjoy it on a 7 or 8 inch screen. 10.1 is acceptable but not optimal). But I would only read magazines when stationary or when on a sofa or some sort of bar stool with a high table
So with a 17/18.4 this will be dual purpose:
1. Watching stuff while cooking in the kitchen (I know a 7~12.9 inch tablet will do the job, but this will be ... bigger! And I can keep it further away from "splash" zones)
2. Actually, a bigger screen won't hurt for magazine viewing on my table. It'll be probably more comfortable on the eyes and will be easier to control too
I'll use it to do other misc things like play a few games here and there. But I'm not looking to buy it for portability
Also these tablets can come in handy for whenever you are anywhere that cannot fit a proper TV, or have a proper TV. Camping comes to mind if I want to put something on for kids and adults to share.
Manga on a large tablet doesn't feel right. Likewise Magazines on a small tablet, even the 10 inch ones, also doesn't feel right.
Again, personal preferences. I understand of course portability is a factor for a lot of users. Happy to fill in more questions if you have any.
EDIT: was looking at amazon review:
Abandoning my interest now :disappointed:

Oh my oh my oh my. I was looking to get a Samsung View (18.4 Andrid tablet) but that's £499. This for £199 is very tempting.

Could you explain your thinking behind wanting a 18.4" tablet please?
Genuinely, I'm interested, as I'm with the previous poster who thought tablets were for portability - we have several up to 10"
Thanks!

my son still loves his Asus 1801 for YouTube and ceebeebies etc... and that isn't exactly supported anymore. it depends what you want it for.

I have not found any decent ROMs for Intel tablets. Cyanogen really struggles in that area.
Overall this "tablet" seems to be unfortunately obsolete. Android 4.4 is already the minimum for many apps, and soon that will be 5.1. Even 20 pound phones come with Android 5.1 now. Quirky, but useless.

Luke warm.
I would buy one for £100 - £125, but for £199 I would want Android updates, a cordless keyboard and a mouse included. Perfect as a little kitchen/living room computer.
I got rid of all my unsupported/generic Android devices because of the lack of OS updates.

Warning. I bought one of the 21" for the kitchen rather than run cable into the kitchen. Worked fine for about a year. Then slowly all the apps became unsupported. So can't watch BT Sport. Sky Go doesn't work. ITV Hub won't work. It's slowly becoming useless. Not had an update of anything in last 18 months I don't think. I'll probably buy a TV and a Firestick.

The lack of a built-in battery makes it less portable than the one posted here today.
If the HP17 had HDMI -"in", it could have been the perfect touchscreen, portable monitor.

I may be wrong, but, isn't what you put there this one:

If only it had HDMI "in"..... Would have bought it in a heart beat.

Forgive the ignorance.....but I thought the point of a tablet was convenience & portability......I wouldn't think that was the case with this one weighing in at over 2kg
It seems to be trying to compete in too may areas & not doing it very well.....it's not a touch screen PC...spec is too low.....it's not a smart TV....too small....it is running an old version of Android 4.4.2 & we are now onto 6.1.....There are even some newer apps I use which don't work on KitKat (although I know it's the most common version of Android currently in use)......if buying a new item like this I'd really want to purchase a device running Marshmallow ideally....or Lollipop as a minimum
