Can't compare this to a refurb... So you can't find a better deal
Slightly slower processor, but same RAM, 320GB sata drive, and the options of upgrading RAM, upgrading storage and getting a full HD screen
AND its over £100 cheaper ^^ ex business laptops being flogged off

£300 isn't very much for this spec, the chances are this machine is made in the same factory as those other brands you mentioned!

Mother in Law asked me to find her a laptop - budget £300 so bought this, no idea If it's decent yet as it had not been used.

i'd upgrade the ram to 8GB(doesnt cost much)..remove optical drive and put a HDD in there..there you have plenty room and speed.

I've had a couple of these through work, one was an i7 with 4GB RAM and the other an i5 with 8GB RAM. Of the two, I definitely feel that the i5 was the better machine. The RAM makes more of a difference than the i7.

a top-end i5 can easily outperform a lower-end i7..

to upgrade the ram its **** easy... depending on the model of the laptop,it can be done in a matter of 30 seconds..with most laptops, all you need is just a small screwdriver that'll open the back panel where you gain access to the ram slot, change/add the ram stick there, put lid back on screws back in..sorted... watch a few youtube videos on how to upgrade ram...you'll understand how easy it is.. altho it may be difficult for some models..

Fantastic little laptop for the money - the missus got this recently on my recommendation - very quick and cool, quiet for the money

Not really a like for like comparison is it? One costs £299 and your option costs over 60% more. Your option looks ok, but people looking at a £300 laptop deal probably aren't looking at spending £479

Obviously a noob. Votes? Don't follow the crowd round here. Think for yourself.

for 300 quid I expect a HD screen, like...really? Good processor and nice to have an SSD, but apart from that, pretty crappy imo
I wouldn't trust a HP as far as I could throw it. Rather look elsewhere for a Dell, Acer, Asus, etc... for this price you can get a nice HD screen, a better quality body (this is rlly poor plastic) and the same RAM and storage, from an arguable better manufacturer. Thats just my opinion tho
I purchased this on the weekend and upgraded the ram to 8. Extra 4gb ram cost £11 on the web. Good laptop. A little bit plasticy but does a job for a price.
