Nice find oddball and thanks for posting freddy. Just bought one, will pick it up on Tues and see what it's like. Was looking around for a cheapish laptop with an SSD and nearly bought one with a slightly slower processor for £280. Came on here to look first and was glad I did :-) £234 seems like a steal to me.
Definitely a better deal, but we don't all work at Tesco.

£284 with the voucher seems fairly reasonable tbh. Not sure if it's possible to upgrade ram to 8gb for example?

Opted for this one thanks. Would have preferred bigger ram but 4gb will do for now I guess. Heat added.

Too many limiting factors. Core i3, 4GB and 128GB ssd? I couldn't survive in Windows 7 with 128GB and core i3 would lag on a busy website? Upgrade all 3 £100 and it would be a bargain

What the hell kind of websites do you visit? an i3 will not "lag" on busy websites.

27 Jun 161#19
I think you'd have to remove the keyboard. I wouldn't advise to do that.
With an SSD onboard the 4Gb will be far less of an issue.
When you run out of RAM memory it will start paging to SSD 'memory' - nothing like a regular hard drive.

This was one of my worries - going from a laptop with 6GB or RAM to this.
I have bought it but 128GB is a slight concern.
In terms of gaming, how would this perform?

I have a 15" HP with a FHD and its overkill.
You have to bump everything up to 125% size ,otherwise font and icons are too small for comfort.
You really need a 17 inch screen to utilise a FHD screen properly in my opinion.

You have to change the advanced settings in device manager to get decent WiFi reception. By decent I mean more than one bar and a successful connection. Also at least one of them I had to open up to improve the antenna connection and it's not easy to get to the antenna connection at all.

It's exactly the same voucher as used in the original deal.
The drive is different but all the other hardware is the same and quite a few others have the same problem. I found the solution on the hp forum. One poster said it was a known issue for a while that HP haven't done anything about. Search for poor WiFi sensitivity or similar in the forum there's a few threads on various hp laptops there. In particular a Ralink and a broadcomm adaptor that are used in the g3 and g4 but other models too.

Ok, so my review of this laptop...
It arrived next day at the Tesco store as promised. Packaged really well.
The laptop itself feels really small and lightweight and looks really nice. The top of the laptop is a grey/black colour and looks really modern.
The initial set up was a bit slow, mainly because of all the HP messages and HP software loading. Once that had finished and all the bloatware was uninstalled, the laptop is incredibly quick. From powering on, to getting to the log on screen is about 7 seconds. As soon as you log in, within 2 seconds it's all on. Very impressed.
The only noise is the fan. But you expect that, but there's no hard drive noise obviously with it being an SSD.
The screen is great, and I have tried a YouTube 1080p trailer on it and it's really clear and vivid.
Was well worth the £234 I paid for it. I am tempted to clean install windows though, but concerned about the HP drivers and such.

Just returned mine, the wife hated it. She didn't like the matt finish as marks all the time, she didn't like the keys as they aren't as responsive as they should be and finally she hated the mouse pad as it isn't marked clearly where the edges are so was always pressing in the wrong place!
So I'm now on the hunt for another similar bargain, if anybody knows of any (for discerning wife and frugal husband) please let me know!
