So, let's say your budget was £750-800. You really would like a minimum of a 55" screen and 4K with HDR if possible.

Well, you could buy the 2015 LG 55UF860V which has a 10bit IPS panel with LGs version of quantum dot technology and which is capable of HDR via streaming or USB for £749 from Richer Sounds with a 6 year warranty and the widely lauded WebOS and Magic remote...
OR
You could buy a still very good 4K TV with a lot of features, but a 65" screen for £799 - IE this Hisense.

At the end of the day, that sort of decision is personal choice. :sunglasses: (Heated)

As far as the debate about IPS or VA panels, well that is also a matter of choice, IPS is much better at viewing angles and a good one, well set up is in likely to be a very good screen indeed. VA is better at blacks, but not very clever at viewing angles. It is not a case of VA is better, IMO.

TV snobs are becoming as annoying as wine snobs. I bet if everything was covered up except the screens on all those TVs you mention plus the Hisense one you wouldn't be able to pick out which were the supposedly superior ones. A bit like wine snobs never agreeing to a blind taste test for entirely obvious reasons but with this one your eyes remain 100% open.

Yes it's 10" smaller, but you at least get a decent quality IPS panel for £150 less.

This Hisense TV is likely to have a TN panel, at best it will look reasonable head on, but look at it at any other angle and it will likely look terrible, defeating any use for this size screen.

Only reason I can see for really wanting this is to be able to say you have a slightly bigger screen than your neighbour.

IPS beats VA any day, far more accurate. Is this even a VA panel? I'd guess it was a TN.
Also, jet black blacks on a VA panel? No. Only OLED displays will give you jet black blacks.

guys the newer model is meant to be out this month with hdr (through HDMI not local). Well... hopefully hdr out of the box and not waiting for firmware update. don't think Netflix is 4k yet on these TVs locally

I have the 55" model. My ps4 looks fantastic on it. As does YouTube 4K. I have a couple of 2015 LG's (43") and the picture compares favourably.
Next months update will bring with it, many new features.

There's more to a TV than it's size and guarantee period. I've just pointed this out and make a suggestion of what else to look at.

If all you want is to say you have a 65" 4k TV then go for this. I just can't see there being many situations where this is the best TV to go for, that's all I'm saying.

Also, this applies to any brand not just hisense, Samsung's cheapest 65" TV probably isn't any better than this and you'd be better off with a 55" with a higher quality panel in most situations. I just bought a different Hisense product so I'm not against the brand itself.

Hisense are a well regarded brand, Nobody could have guessed how samsung would take over the tv market but they did!

And before you try giving me your spill, I currently have a 2015 55JL9000 as my main set which was a surprise for me as I have always purchased expensive sets previously (I loved the look and soundbar stand). I have owned panasonic panels, last gen Pioneer Kuro (which was amazing), High end samsungs ect. These all get calibrated.
Generally buy a new set every 12-18 months and I had a 42" plasma as soon as they became available really, So I have had a few sets!

I would have no issue buying one of these except for the fact there seem to be some QC issues, But when you are paying these prices you have to expect them. Not much of an issue when you can return for a new set though.

I do not doubt it would fare well against LG sets, Black levels are not good on my JL but the PQ makes up for it.

So my point is....Please stop saying these are rubbish when you have no idea what you are talking about. They are far superior to supermarket brands yet similar prices. They have also lowered the price of premium brands, Its a win win situation :wink:

I'm not an AV guru like so many peeps on here proclaim to be...I am however a consumer of TVs and a listener. Buying a TV, regardless of manufacturer, model or price is a bit of a crap shoot. Today's best manufacturer are tomorrow's worst (failing to update promised software, changing factories / panel suppliers, poor warranties etc), you can pay the most but get the one with the duff technology (great 3D but rubbish frame smoothing) and difficult to review (as different suppliers often have slightly different specs).
Hisense are a huge supplier of mid-level kit. Their lower cost of R&D, manufacturing base and hunger to grow enable them to operate at a lower price point. Their innards are good but lack the smooth / comprehensive Smart TV OS you may find in most other brands (updates may or may not arrive).

Replace a bulb every year? Do you plan on keeping the projector running on high power for 365 days non stop? Bulbs last much longer than one year on average on full power. I use medium settings on my sanyo, and haven't had to replace my bulb in over five years.

Incorrect, HDR does offer more colour and brightness than standard 4k but standard 4k offer far more than full HD as long as it supports 4:4:4 colour

If you did you'd notice a massive change in the screen, bulbs get duller the more you use them, after 5 years yours must be pretty much shot.

I had this delivered yesterday wow the difference between the 58" model 2015 & the 65" model 2016 is vast. The picture far out weighs the older model. It has Amazon built in & yes it does have HDR!! So another brand with all this tv offers would be over £1000. So the price of £799 is a steal. Those that are thinking of taking the plunge I would say go ahead & take it! Although I bought mine at AO.com as in exchange for the faulty 58", I would not buy from them again, as the returns procedure for faulty products takes for ever and a day to sort. I would recommend Richer Sounds or John Lewis to purchase this although AO.com reduce it further by giving you trade in on an old tv whether working or not, so choice is out there. Just snap up this tv for the price alone!!

I went from a Samsung tv to the Hisense 55" k720 and it's great Hisense is not well known over here but in America and Europe they are huge. Hisense is one of the worlds largest manufacturers making all sorts of things and even screens for other tv brands. TV snobs need to do homework before they say this ones better than that one I took a lot of time and effort in researching tv's to pic a one for our main room and the curved screen on the 55" k720 is superb.

What do the richer sound guys say about these TVs? This deal is a stonker! I'm waiting for their HDR offering.
Hisense seem to be like aldi, they offer great product because they have to! Look who their competitors are, plus the fact we've been getting ripped off by the monopoly the big guys setup up.
I worked in currys many years ago and remember LG coming onto the market, talking people into buying them over Sony was near impossible, look where they are now

I agree. It seems the more popular a brand name gets people want the badge without the cost so they start branding complete crap not made by them. You can get some shockingly bad TVs at the lower price end from all the well known brands, but because they have 'Sony' etc badges it's enough for people to be drawn in. Kit should be selected on it's merits not its name.

Go check out AVForums for all the problems people have with light-bleed, slow buggy O/S, random reboots and just general moans and groans about PQ with most if not all of the high-end brands.

Hisense have been making sets for years and having seen one in the flesh can happily say they give a superb image.

I'm that much of an electronics snob I wouldn't entertain a South Korean TV let alone a Chinese one, even though I know Samsung and LG make great, high quality sets. Seeing my sister-in-law's £2800 Samsung get sent back with so many faults that Currys eventually give her a full refund can't help either. I'm old enough to reall a day where only Japanese electronics were worth buying (except for the really high-end stuff) and can't get over Samsung and LGs days of making cheap tat so I stick to Panasonic for TVs but they might not even be in the TV game much longer!

Hisense make great value TVs if you're not as fussy as I am. Once the Chinese brands get the quality up to the same standard they will kill the Korean's market just as they did with the Japanese giants.

This seems a great bargain. Less than I paid recently for last years flagship 55" Panasonic that was half price! I've been using Richer Sounds that long I trust they wouldn't be selling this if it was tat, let alone backing it up with their excellent warranty.

Just changed a blub which did 6000+ hours. Picture was still amazing. The only reason i changed it was for safety reasons as i didn't want to clean up the mess if it exploded. New bulb is a little bit brighter but it's really not a massive change. Could vary from projector to projector of course but this is was my experience with BenQ.

With heavy usage you will have to change the blub every 2 years. New blub will set you back £150. For what you get it is worth every penny. It's only when you use a DLP projector that you realise how crap LCD technology is. I say that having used an LCD for the past 8+ years and know all too well what backlight leakage, dirty screen effect, motion blur and dead pixles are.

Maybe because it is HDR and says so very clearly on the box. It's not advertised as HDR as it can't do it from external sources, as presumably the hdmi isn't hdmi 2.0a.

I just wanted a bigger screen with a few smart features and maybe 4k display, for a decent price , so this deal is scorching for me :smiley:

Massively tempted and would probably go for it and replace my sony 55w829 if i hadnt just spent a lot upgrading my speaker set up. I get that Hisense are more of an unknown brand in this country but given their apparent size in the global market I'm surprised that googling some of their models I've been looking at brings back very little in the way of reviews or any other info I normally like to see before making my purchase.

Do you know which TVs provide a proper implementation of HDR though? Did you know the standard implementation is called Ultra Premium HD?

This is what I mean, people will just buy a TV because it says HDR on the side because someone on a forum said it was good, so they check some videos and yeah it's good, let's have it then without answering the questions above. The problem is they didn't know the questions, they ran before they could walk. Research the subject matter first is all I'm saying. Acronyms are just acronyms until you know exactly what they mean in a wider sense.

Anyone who has got this, is it the Full Android TV operating System, or is it some cutback Android version specific to HiSense.

Had the Sony with Andriod TV before and it was great with Kodi loaded so wanted to see if this was the same.

also it says no freesat but images show a SAT connector, assume it is working for standard SAT input?.,

Bought one this morning, phoned to see if they would match the ao.com get40. Answer was no as the warranty does not compare but knocked a tenner off. Much happier with the 6 year warranty. Look forward to its delivery.
Nothing of this size on the market that compares price wise and seems to have the majority of features I'm looking for.

Just got a call from Richer Sounds Belfast. I ordered this on Friday with expected delivery Wednesday, but they are now Out of Stock in the UK warehouse, not idea when new shipment is due. :disappointed:

Not sure how this would happen as I'd assume as soon as they take your order and payment the item would be reserved.

it went out of stock online when I tried to order on Saturday morning. phoned them this morning, the guy told me that 80 units are on order and awaiting a confirmation from the supplier... eta is usually about 2 weeks apparently...

Hi, just got mine last night, although I did the AO deal, with £40 off so £759 plus quidco which is tracking at £12.00 at the mo but may go to £50, which I am very happy about. First impressions are excellent, this TV is outstanding value for money. Build quality seems rock solid and the picture is excellent, lovely dark blacks and vivid colours. I'm very happy with the purchase and I am very fussy and have only ever bought "brands" in the past. I think Hisense will be very disruptive this year to the usual brands, and a lot like me will take the plunge.

Could you possibly comment on the judder / motion blur please. Would you be able to compare it to a well known brand and recent model please ? Having stood in the likes of Curry's TV department (I know :disappointed: ) I can safely say there are very few TV's that (for me at least) exhibit acceptable levels of smoothness in the way they process motion. Some are truly horrific. And for the money some of these manufacturers are asking they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
Don't get me wrong. Viewing angles, colour saturation and gamut , resolution, blacks and contrast all seem relatively but not exclusively proportional to price. But good God the motion processing on some of these displays is akin to a flip book.

Motion is fine, in fact excellent, have been watching the football with no problem, maybe up close i.e. less than 2m, a bit of blur with the ball, but from 3m + its not really noticeable at all. As said, I think this is a quality set for the money and certainly in the same league as the decent Pannies and Sony's etc. Certainly not Vestel territory. I am genuinely blown away that you can get a 65" TV for this money and quality, could not have even of imagined this a couple of years ago, anything at this size was more than £3k.

If I have any issues its the sheer size for my lounge. Probably on the border of too big, well the missus thinks so. I went from a 42" though which was too small, so 55" would have been more realistic, but I just could't resist this deal :smile:, it is a monster set and probably suited to bigger rooms.

Thanks for that morsel99. I may well be in a similar situation as yourself. Coming from a 42" plasma Panny to this behemoth :smiley: . One small difference though the TOH is more than happy to have the extra inches (Oo err Mrs. It's not about the size. It's NOT about the size. It's what you do with it) as she wanted a 55" before we got the Panny. She always said it was too small.

As an update though I've been told 14 days till RS is restocked with this TV. How true ? I don't know. But that's what I've been told by Sheffield. Not much consolation if you've ordered it for the footy though, sorry.

Recieved this tv on Monday, and I'm pretty much in love with it as well. My only issue (which I would like to know if other people are experiencing} is the various light bleeding on edges and certain areas of the screen when completely black. I've never experienced this before, as I I'm coming from an LG 48inch lcd tv, which I bought in 2010 and had a very strong and thick back to it, meaning no light seepage.

But with this tv, it makes watching a few films, particularly letterbox films, quite offputting as you can still see bits of bleeding in the corners. Anyone else with this tv experiencing the same? If so, what's the severity of you're light bleeding on the tv?

Yeah not too glossy at all, as you say, half/half, I would say. Not much reflection in the day time which is good. As said, its a great set, very happy with it.

Cracking TV. Ordered via RS Nottingham on Saturday Afternoon. 2 in the warehouse apparently but. 99% chance it would fail.
Panicked on Monday and re-ordered with AO using the code but then RS confirmed my order had actually gone through and TV to arrive on Thursday.
Cancelled the AO as the RS 6 year guarantee is frankly obscenely amazing.
Arrived Thursday PM and very very impressed.

Last purchase of a good to was Samsung d8000 55" which is also amazing, far thinner and lighter, maybe better build but it was almost £2k a few years back, at £800 the hi sense is superb value for money.

Good picture, smart is ok, 3D missing but never took off anyway.

4K - well who knows, it's the next BIG thing but for now bog standard to and sky looks good.

Generally very happy, glad I bagged the bargain whilst it was available.

You could phone their telesales team and pre-order this if you want. I am not very impressed with the response I got from the RS account on HUKD, so don't hold your hopes too much in getting a call back from them.

RS are a very inconsistent with their price match policy. I contacted them via HUKD and got a standard response which basically says "Sorry, we can't offer you the same deal that we offered to few other customers here"...... Thanks RicherSounds...!!

I was very interested earlier but their response put me off... I think I will wait till Amazon or AO get more stock...
(I am not in a hurry to get this as I still have 3-4 weeks before moving to a new house..)

My Mum was looking for a new tv and i showed her this. It's perfectly fine for most people, the smart features are nothing amazing and it's missing stuff, but tbh all smart TVs suck, we all use chromecast or Apple TV. I wish they would just remove it and have the to load up faster tbh...

The picture seems uniform, the black levels are good enough and I don't notice any notion issues or anything or anything bad with sd video on it.

Just seems like your box standard tv to me.

I have a Sony at home that was highly rated when I got it last year from hdtv reviews and this just looks the same.

You will notice a bit of ghosting or smearing when moving something, but I've yet to find a to where you don't, they all have 30ms plus if latency these days. Get a big monitor if you want sub 10ms...

For 800 quid it seems fine and it supports HDR, though I doubt it's very good and tbh most HDR up to this point isn't very good and is too dim for daytime viewing.

its mainly good - looks very well made. Blacks are blacker than most LED's. smart sytem is OK, much better than last years hisense offerings.

10 years ago you wouldn't have considered an LG or Samsung a "proper" TV. This is the real deal. Do not confuse this with the usual Vestel supermarket TV rubbish. Do your research and read the reviews.

Doh, 8K pffft, better to save the money, so that the great grandchildren can buy a 100M tv with the inheritance!

That is the way with tech - bigger TV, LED rather than LCD, Smart rather than Dumb, etc. 5 years later half the price (both HOT HUKD). Could wait 3 years & get a Samsung 75" for the money, could equally die before!

Is a cinema screen too big when you are sat 20 feet away?

I have this tv, and sit approx 10 feet away most times, but If I want to be closer sometimes watch as close as 5 feet away to be fully engrossed. (with backlight to 0)

6 ft away just turn your backlight down to 0 like I do, and it just feels like the cinema.
