What's the smallest UHD TV available? Samsung also do a 40" but I haven't found anything smaller.
I need to have one on my desk (I write software for stbs), but a 40" monitor 2 feet from your face is unpleasant.

Adaptive contrast can be way too sensitive depending on room position eg window light.
To be honest though it should really be turned off anyway then set picture to how you want it.

Selecting "off" made absolutely no difference on my set which is why I believed it to be faulty.

So going by comments above it seems these TV's have so called "picture enhancements" that cannot be switched off?
That's one thing that would annoy me to the max, contrast and backlight setting constantly adjusting themselves with changing picture content.

I wouldnt touch anything from hughes direct. I just other week bought a hob from them and it never turned up. It was such a farce for weeks trying to get it that had to give up in the end. Between hughes and the courier arrow xl they are a bunch of liars who did nothing to try and resolve whatever issue it was. They would have been happy for me to have waited forever for it without telling me it was never going to come. Joke of a company.
There was a free gift element which did show up that I didnt even want that they charged for and I just gave up in the end it was my worst experience buying online in buying for up to 20 years.

pay by credit card for big online purchases. If your item is not delivered you inform your Cc company and they will reclaim the money. All you have to do is fill out a form and they do the rest. Can't believe people don't know this in 2016...

Ok I have the 43" Hisense 4k, I had the 40"Hisense 4k previous to this and a 39" 720 Phillips plasma before that.
I watch at about 8 feet and game and have a Mac hooked up at around 3 feet.
SD CONTENT -looked **** on all no real difference between the different TV's
HD CONTENT - looked good on all no real difference at 8 feet.
4k CONTENT - looks better than HD... Sometimes! BR Footie and Netflix 4k I can tell if I'm watching 4k Netflix via the TV or HD Netflix via Xbox one.
GAMING AND MAC- 720 plasma I could see the pixels as it were very easily, 4k sets are much better in this regard can't really see individual pixels anymore.
4k at 3 feet - now this is a real difference to HD looks much better!

Also if you are not sitting at a viewing distance of around 4/5 feet or closer to the screen you will not be able to see the difference between 1080p and 4k. Especially on a 40 inch tv.

as an owner of an hd tv I'd like to believe this, can anyone day if they've tried this?

Would I be better getting a full HD or a 4K tv such as this if the majority of what I'm watching is broadcast in SD? Would the full HD upscale the SD signal better than a 4k tv? And what about HD channels? Would they look better on a full HD or 4k tv?

3D is far bigger in the states, that's what kept is going for so long. The UK, no so much.
TV 4K content yes, there isn't much content. But new Blu Ray releases are releasing in 4K and I plan on getting a 4K TV soon for 2K/4K gaming once the nVidia prices begin to settle. Not all us bought the wrong hardware, you just need to do your homework on the technology.
And if everyone waited for tech to go mainstream, it never would. It's the early buyers which spur on the advancement.

There is just not enough 4k content to justify buying such a TV, its like all those daft ****** that brought 3D even HD TVs when there was hardly any 3D/HD content. Obviously now its different but is that TV up to standard????? A lot of people missed out with HD-ready TVs, 720p TVs and digital TVs with the wrong hardware. Let it become mainstream and enough content available before buying, otherwise you will have unclear images watch S and HD on a 4K TV. Gullible
It is now an ideal time to buy a 1080i/p HD TV!

I bought the 49" version from Amazon last week and didn't like it. I sent it back. I don't think it was cheap and nasty though but I think mine may have had a fault with the adaptive contrast which was driving me mad. No-one else on the thread complained about it, so I guess mine was a one-off.

Hisense bought Sharp and are a very popular brand in Asia/Europe. Their panels are surprisingly good but I don't think any of the 2016 range have HDR capabilities yet.
