On android it seems to save them as mp3 in /Android/data/com.google.android.music/files/music

The player costs a few pounds for PC and you can download entire albums for offline listening.

There used to be an app called TinyShark or something that could download for offline play, so you could play on PC with Winamp. Don't think it works now though. :neutral_face:

So you want to bulk download the subscription tracks to play offline?
From my experience of other services you can only download an album at a time at most but this may well not be universal.
Do you want to use WinAmp under Windows or Android or another O/S?
My sense right now is that the subscription tracks that you download are not available to be played (or manipulated in other ways) outside of the Google app or browser.
There may be a 3rd party tool that removes the obfuscation of the downloaded tracks so creating regular MP3 tracks that can be played in WinAmp etc.
If so, not sure if that would work purely under Android!

I did specifically ask about downloads to a PC.
If they do also download the subscription tracks as MP3 I presume they are obfuscated which makes it useless to me.

You can download to a iOS / android smartphone or tablet using the GPM app: format .mp3 at 320kbps,
However, connection needs to be made to Google server to verify the account is active. I think this is at least once in any 30 days.
If connection can't be made or verification is not successful, music can not be played until account is 'live', paid for etc.

Those are just the ones you uploaded yourself as there's no way you can download the music from the subscription service as MP3 as it would mean you could keep them after you cancel.

If you cancel your subscription I believe any tracks you uploaded to your locker are still available.
You can not access other music once subscription is cancelled.
Any music still on a smartphone will only play if a connection is made to Google's server I think once in any 30 day cycle.

If anyone knows the terms of cancelling, it would be handy for people to know. I.e. if you need to cancel 30 days before the end of the trial or something

There are tools that allow you to record steams for future use but that's against the terms and spirit of the service.

I got this free for 3 months and am a month or so in.

I really liked it at first but if you like specific types of music, like say dance etc, it gets very repetitive.

Don't think I'll keep it after the free trial. If it could have kept up with more content I would have seriously considered it.

•SONOS
•Safari web browser
Both 320kbps unless they are uploaded tracks, then the songs are streamed at the kbps that were uploaded i.e. amazon bought music VBR

•iPhone downloaded for offline listening though Koss Porta Pro headphones and in the car, as above 320kbps and I think again the kbps that were uploaded for your own music but not 100% sure on that.

I did post on an android forum yesterday about the same question and you can download up to the limit of the smartphone/tablets storage.
I'm fairly certain you cant download to say winamp or other type 'retro' software.

Can you play these using other applications or do you have to play off-line using the Google software or via a browser?

You used to be able to download DRM'd WMA tracks with the Microsoft music service that you could play with WMP and other software but now you have to use the MS Music app which is rubbish so looking for an alternative music service.
