Garmin Edge Touring Plus Special Edition Bundle - Ex Display
The robust Garmin Edge Touring Plus Special Edition Bundle has been specifically designed to help you find your way by bike. Similar to a satnav, it provides both on-road and off-road navigation and round-trip ride options based on a set distance. Edge Touring Plus gives you the freedom to know you can find your way to any chosen destination. It works like a GPS navigator which you have in your car, only with maps and features specifically designed for cyclists. You can even find and download rides others have completed on GarminConnect and GarminAdventures or share your own personal rides with the community.
There are many bike-specific maps which are already preloaded in Edge Touring Plus making it easy to get from one destination to the other (and beyond) and back again. Just enter an address or search for points of interest and the Edge Touring Plus will give you turn-by-turn directions to your destinations making it as easy as possible for you. You can choose between cycling, tour cycling and mountain biking modes to calculate the most appropriate route for the type of cycling you do, taking you on paved roads, unpaved roads or on paths and trails. Edge Touring Plus also features round trip routing which allows you to tell the device how far you would like to ride and then choose from up to 3 ride options that will bring you back to where you started originally. It also features a Barometric Altimeter which gives elevation, total ascent, total descent and gradient information on the go. It displays a graph of the elevation changes and then records the elevation data ready for upload when you get home.
If you want to track and log how hard you’re working, you can use the wireless ANT+™ heart monitor (included in this Special Edition). The ANT+ technology provides integration for compatible LEVs and eBikes to show range, remaining charge and other key data.

Hi all,
I managed to order one from the Canterbury store (14 miles from where I live in Ashford) as this was the nearest in stock, fortunately I was contacted by the store and they explained that the display model had zero battery life and was effectively non-functional. The store then checked the Chatham branch as this had one, however it was a regular model with similar 'issues', before they checked Tunbridge Wells's stores bundle condition I said that I wouldn't bother as I guess they have basically been fried from being on 24/7 and abused by the public. So be aware that if you do manage to find one, perhaps check first.
To be fair I felt that the HRM, mounts, case etc was of more use to me as I already have an 800, with my BC discount I thought £90 was worth a go...
Anyway, happy hunting!

Just received a call from my store after reserving online - not in stock so no deal for me

Sounds like the usual Halfrauds online offer = sounds great till you try getting your hands on one when they mysteriously evaporate and go out of stock. Have given up on their offers after too many disappointments including not having the stock and offering inferior replacements. Don't know why they bother. All that said if you get one for £100 and it works it would be a good deal, but I wouldn't hold my breath that anyone will!

I've got 1 reserved but similarly got a call from a different store saying the display model holds no charge, does anyone know where you stand warranty wise buying an ex display model?

Looking online it looks like you get a 1yesr warranty from date of purchase regardless of whether it's ex display etc...??

I've got one reserved and the guy rang me up seemingly desperate to put me off 'looked for the box and cannot find sir' 'it's still attached to the display sir, are you sure sir'. £100 minus staff discount is a good deal too!

Been after a Garmin for a while, not sure this is the right one for me but will have a look when I collect. Good price if all is ok considering you get the heart rate monitor, silicone case and out front mount . These extras alone would cost around £80.

It's EOD as the Edge 1000 Touring is the current model but nothing really wrong with this one if you just want navigation and none of the race features.

Thanks, they've held it for me while they try to find out, I showed them the description but said none of the other display items had them (probably been stolen while on display).

I can't get it to take off the £20 off £100 for bike accessories. Has anyone else managed?
I don't think the voucher can be applied to bike technology.

Have you seen the condition of the display models in store? This deal must be a joke!
Not a funny one mind you. Typical Halfords.

HUKD should seriously consider not posting Halfords "deals". Their online "stock check" is a complete joke. How many times do folks here reserve an item only to get 'the call' shortly after. I've gone considerable distances to stores in the past only to be told there is no such item reserved.

I managed to pick one up. It look like it's in pretty good condition apart from a small scratch on the case. However, it didn't come with the micro sd card with the maps so when I tried to update to the latest maps it told me to insert a memory card. Had a spare 32 gig lying around so I'm currently downloading the maps. Will be going back to halfords later to negotiate a refund for the cost of a memory card.

Just reserved one localish to me on a whim, on the basis that my old 705 is dying. Had the phone call within 5 minutes to say it's ready to roll, and has everything, so will head out and pick it up shortly.

Popped to halfords to pick up the garmin. He had a bit of trouble locating it. Box was sealed that he gave me... on opening the box it's a brand new touring and not the touring plus.

Does that have the sd card pre-inserted in it?

27 Jun 16#34
I just collected one but no heart rate sensor. Are you sure that should be in the box? There is no information about this on the box.

27 Jun 16#35
Yes if they have given you the plus it should have 2x mounts, case, charger, lead and heart rate. Mine was complete apart from sd card.

27 Jun 16#36
Could you please post a picture? They gave to me probably normal version.

Went back to Halfords to sort the lack of memory card. Cstr service was excellent. They gave me a brand new 32gb card which has replaced the card I downloaded the maps onto. Just need to get out now to see what it's like!

I'm not that happy like you, they sorted heart rate sensor for me but asked to pay £15.

29 Jun 16#45
I would argue with them about it as its described with a HR monitor. They can't get mine to work with maps so they have ordered me a new unit, so hopefully that will sort it out. I can't fault the customer service so far tho.

29 Jun 161#46
I got the same, brand new sealed Touring model (not the plus) and a separate bar in heart rate monitor which was scanned at £35 on the receipt, I'm going to take this back for a refund which will mean I get the Garmin Edge Touring for £65!!! Bargain

Bought Monday £100 (after the salesman tried desperately for me to cancel...vested interest). Sold Monday afternoon for £180. Many thanks, used the profits to pay for a full service kit and extras for Euro Car parts (which was on offer through HUKD). Boy I love this site!
