Tickled me that... I remember the "diabetic" fruit gums when I was newly diagnosed and my little bruv (not a diabetic) scoffing a pack in one go. Sorbitol (if I remember rightly) does indeed have an effect. And the whole house suffered, not just him!

Diabetic ice-cream? Poor ice-cream suffering from diabetes.

I think the problem is that people (more so in the USA) eat a lot more fructose in other things. Sugar: The Bitter Truth on YouTube.
In the USA things like Coke and many other things are sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. Over here that's less common, though you do see glucose-fructose syrup and partially inverted refiner's syrup (which contains fructose) in ingredients lists, especially for cheaper products.

Yes it is, in moderation, like everything in life! As the gentlemen before said, diabetic products are a con, and usually have undesirable effects. Try eating a box of thorntons diabetic chocolates, then you'll see what I mean .
If your branch doesn’t stock it and you are diabetic ask them if they can get it for you.

If fructose was that bad, no one would eat fruit!

I know from experience that a lot of ice creams have closer to 27g per 100g sugar, so this is technically an improvement :stuck_out_tongue: Not particularly great nevertheless!

if I remember correctly the Morrisons own brand low sugar ice cream was better than this for carb content. As someone else already said though, just have normal stuff but shove less in your face!

Compare the ingredients/nutritional panels to most other vanilla ice creams & you will struggle to see how this is beneficial to diabetics!

I hope you don't get all your health advice from random youtube videos. :stuck_out_tongue:
I can make a good guess as to what you saw. Fructose, and all sugar in general, is not toxic or poisonous. It is if you consume vast quantities of pure fructose in your diet but no one does that. Anything can be toxic if you have too much, even water and oxygen.

What are the harmful effects of Fructose? Well, I guess we need to ask Frank. www.talktofrank.com

Are there actually any sugar-free ice cream products? This one contains fructose as the sweetener which (so a video on YouTube says) is really really bad.

Fair play, but bear in mind that putting the word diabetic in front of a food or drink or sweeties is all too often a license to rip folk off. If you're diabetic normal ice cream is okay generally. So long as you don't stuff a barrel full down your neck!

Deal link doesn't work for me, also the other link doesn't show the Frank's product???
Edit: Never mind, it seems the product isn't available from my local shop, and when you're signed in you only see search results for products which are.
