How long did your finlux last ?

Useless company with less than useless customer service.

If you actually get one (and by that I mean if you order one and it actually arrives) remember what you paid and don't expect more. In fact expect less. That way you won't be disappointed.

And as you are already disappointed then their c/s shouldn't shock you either.

Without going into too much detail the reasons behind my comment are :

1. Ordered one (different model) from their site end of November last year. With next day delivery for a Christmas present for my parents.

2. It never arrived. By mid December I was still chasing it.

3. Allegedly they never received an order. But did get a payment?!?

4. No harm done I though. Sure send one out and I'll get it tomorrow. 'We can't guarantee next day delivery'. It will take 4-6 weeks!?!

5. They finally agreed to refund me on 23 December. But that would take up to 10 days?!?

6. Ended up picking up a slightly smaller but far superior Samsung for the same money.

Never accepted there was a problem and could understand why I was being 'unreasonable'

Finlux I thought were good mine is 14months old and the tuner has failed still works via HDMI only just as one of them has failed also!! Beware.

How long was it on your wall ? I've been told they last 3 years local tv repair shop

They tend to last just after the warranty has expired. My 26" Finlux 3D TV developed an annoying line of stuck pixel going down the middle of the screen after 2 years of moderate use (I use it for my desktop computer screen). I had a 2 years warranty on it so just missed out on a free repair... gutted but I'm still using it. Sometimes that line disappears for a few minutes as well which really baffles me.

I have had my finlux almost 4 years now and not had a single problem with it

The Sale of Goods Act has been replaced by the Consumer Rights Act. This came into force on 1 October 2015.

The Consumer Rights Act has made some changes to your rights to return faulty goods and get a refund, replacement or repair.

In addition, the Consumer Rights Act now gives you completely new rights when you buy digital content.

Also Finlux asked for an independent expert report to be done on the TV to prove that it's their fault before anything can be done... Most people will not bother, another example of how these acts are there to protect corporations rather than consumers in disguise.

I bought an LG 3 years ago, had issues with it from day 1.
LG wanted nothing to do with it (neither did Comet) even though it was blatantly a fault with the TV/panel.

Don't be sorry man it's not your problem at all, in fact, thanks for taking time to point out the rights consumers have, I think even though I have the right to request for a free repair, it's ultimately up to Finlux whether they would build up their customer service reputation by providing it, or refuse via excuses such as the requirement of an independent expert report. In this case they refused, well I kinda expected it from a company like Finlux. But yea, cheers anyway!

Got the 49" version of the same set and its brilliant. Love it. Works well but the courier is rubbish that Finlux use. I had problems with the courier they destroyed the first set and in the end I got a free tablet as compensation for the delay. I was more than happy as I purchased it at a very good price at the time.

Mine is a quad core board and runs stuff like 4k youtube etc beautifully and the dlna media playback is brilliant being fully compatible with most of my nas drive files. Games look great and there is low input lag. The passive 3D Finlux televisions feature an LG panel where as I think the non-3D ones use a Chinese brand 4k panel.

I wasn't really spoilt for choice for brands. I like 3D but not active 3D and the LG sets apart from being much more expensive seemed to have higher input lag which is no good for a gamer like me.

While sound quality is good on mine there isn't a huge amount of volume.

I think the main reason to buy this set is you want 3D support and can't get on with active shutter glasses. If 3D isn't important or you don't mind active 3D then there may be better options.

Many televisions now assembled across Europe are just panels and electronics imported from China and assembled. Obviously many brands actually use Vestel to manufacture/assemble their sets too.

Most Vestel sets are reliable. Still many of the old Vestel CRT sets are still working. I have a Hitachi branded Vestel still working fine and an older LCD in a bedroom that still works great. Which reliability survey shows Vestel branded sets to be reliable under many different brands. Vestel have by far the largest market share in the UK of any manufacturer of tvs. Finlux is Vestel's premium brand sold direct to consumers. What premium actually means in real terms I don't know. All I know is the set performs well with exactly the features I wanted at a very reasonable price. Passive 3D seems to work exceptionally well now that the one thing that is inferior compared to active 3D (resolution) is eliminated for 1080p sources due to the 4k panel.

My (anecdotal) experience suggests Vestel have poor reliability, i'd love to see some proof to the contrary. FYI, I received £120 to repair a 2.5 year old Panasonic plasma TV from Tesco after supplying a bulletin from Panasonic regarding the known fault it developed.

For what it's worth I have a Vestel (which is badged as a JVC which my parents got us from Comet) that's been going strong for the past 4 years.

Can't fault it's performance or reliability. Sometimes I do hope it stops working soon so I can justify buying a UHD TV.

Finlux bad customer service. Do not buy their products.

Just snagged the 55 inch 3d 4k (55UT3E310B-T) set via amazon's prime day promo for 439 quid!!!! :smile: I currently have a 32 inch full HD 3d set (BLAUPUNKT) and am totally happy with it :smiley: So as my standards are not so high :wink: , I am as you can imagine, really looking forward to getting my hands on this new set....I'm sure it will be more then adequate for my 'high' standards :smile: not sure how it compares to this posts set but thought you all might like my story :smiley:

Looks like end game for Finlux passive 3D televisions. There are none on their site and I wonder if LG is allowing third party manufacturers to use their panels anymore as LG have moved their 3D models higher up the range. Third party passive 3D televisions seem much harder to find now.

The newer Finlux models seem to have less hdmi sockets (only 2) and other restrictions. Some reviews have stated slow operation and I wonder if they have downgraded from a quad core cpu board to a dual core cpu to save costs.

So for those who got a model in this series either 43", 49" or 55" or the similar models under the Techwood brand you've probably done well. Doesn't seem anything on the market now of a similar spec/price. Really you need to pay a lot more to get an LG of similar spec. It's not just the LG panel featuring passive 3D it also seemed a better panel overall than the generic chinese panels the non 3D versions used.
