Just had email from Square Enix stating all FFXIV content is 50% off
Heavensward: £14.99
edit: just checked and the base game is just £9.99 on steam, but still the heavensward DLC is a good deal imo.

Thought £9.99 was high (think that's what WoW is now). But still, the monthly cost has put me right off playing the game. :/

Worked fine for me yesterday.

Important to know, if you own the base game (A Realm Reborn) on Steam and want to get this it won't work. The way it's been set up is that the Steam version is a totally different (and more expensive) version that requires that the DLC also be bought from Steam.
Non steam accounts can't use Steam keys, Steam accounts can't use non steam keys.
By steam keys I don't mean the key you'd enter into steam to redeem it but rather the key you're given afterwards to enter into Sqenix's account system.
If you're new to the game I recommend buying the game from G2A or something as the base game is ~£6 and heavensward ~£12. Timecards are also much cheaper to buy (for european accounts) than subbing directly: roughly £12 on G2A.

You can play world of Warcraft on the ptr just log in download and, as long as you have bought the game and had account should be fine.

Note: World of Warcraft PTR realms are only available to players who have a World of Warcraft account with active game time.

It's a shame it's £9.99 a month to play. I was paying the same for World of Warcraft, but after quitting that a subscription based system puts me off. Really want to try this game again.

Anyone know if this game will be difficult to get into so far after its release?

The game is great and easy to get into overall. However the HUGE issue is that the main story is mandatory, and you HAVE to do all of the base games story (including patch content) before you can go into Heavensward content. That will take a good while, hell the level 50 patch content alone took me a few days to get through. So if you just want to rush to level cap you really can't.
