Savouring this for the summer drought of absolutely nothing between July-August. Hell, the only thing I really want is COD4 remastered and even then I'm not that bothered.
Actually working through my backlog, which I know is difficult for us lot on here. This is a goooood deal though. Nice to see the price isn't dropping quickly, means its selling very well which is nice to see a game that does what it wants rather than what the target audience/marketers want

Not gonna bite yet, will wait for price drop. Have a feeling it will go down. Inflation of sales, high stock. sell low buy high and all that.

Great game, I think it's surprised quite a few people how good it actually is, especially the single player campaign which is usually overlooked these days in most FPS's.
Definitely worth a punt at this price, you will enjoy it!

I was extremely excited about this game. played it for about 3 hours and got quite bored, haven't been able to bring myself to pick it up again. im sure if I were to persevere id probably enjoy it eventually, but for me it was a bit of a disappointment. its no destiny.

I have enjoyed this game but i am growing weary as i approach the end. The battles are always the same. Wave upon wave of enemies, usually increasing in strength until you kill them all. In most games this would be a big problem. Why doom gets away with it (mostly) is that the gunplay is fantastic (although the sound mix is awful -explosions in particular), the graphics are smooth and the arenas are ripe for jumping and boosting around, quake 3 style while you reign hell on the hoardes around you.
It is a pretty long campaign though.
Also be aware that whilst the gfx are good and generally smooth there are ocassions where the framerate goes south really fast for extended periods of battles which doesnt look great.

I loved them too, but this is pretty different to Doom 3.
Back to a more basic and faster paced blast everything that moves style of the original games.

I have this on PC and the single player is great! no complex storyline, just big guns and lots of demons to mow.
Add the gory kills and it's an over the top hoot! Currently on my second play through looking for secrets and completing the challenges (and mowing more demons )
I can understand the console version may be a bit more of a challenge on the dualshock but to be fair, but I'd have a go!

This isn't performing poorly. It's just outside the top5 in sales for each format (in facts it's still in the top 5 pc games). Sales problems are NOT the cause of price drops as appears to be the reason provided by people here. Sure, the game is lower in the chart than it was. That is understandable as new games are released each week, and Doom is continuing to outsell many of them. More likely they want to bring Doom higher up the chart and raise its profile again, rather than dropping the prices to shift unsold units. This is not bargain basement time for Doom.

They want more money and dropping a game from £40 to less than £30 inside a month of release is not a good sign. Even game were slashing the price of this just after release which says a lot.

Xbox One runs at a lower resolution most of the time. That's pretty much the only difference.

Reckon there's much difference between xbox one and ps4? Prefer games on the ps4 but my hard drive is full, loads of room on my x1 tho....

Because it's the best game of the year and they want everyone to play it?

"Working through the backlog"
Whenever I think I'm close to 1% of doing that, there's a new humble bundle and the goalposts just got moved again :disappointed:

Phenomenal game and, for me, the best shooter released in years. A superb deal.

The campaign does have a story with it, however you can ignore it really, it's about killing lots of things and upgrading your weapons. If you're looking for Last of US / Uncharted 4 story telling, then this game is as far removed as you can get from that.

It's actually not bad as a basic FPS game, it's quite fun. The graphics are OK as well, not amazing on the PS4 but good enough. On the PC it's supposed to look excellent.

I've been debating whether or not to buy. Heard campaign is great(not interested in multiplayer) but is there actually a story to it?

I got Doom for £10 with a bundle deal at GAME when I bought my PS4. I wasn't expecting much, but actually it's not a bad game. It can be a tad frustrating, especially on the PS4. Whenever you get killed which is fairly often you have to wait to load from the checkpoint, which is quite slow loading on the PS4. I'm only on The Foundry level, I get stuck, then I come back to it and I progress little by little. This is a game that will take me a couple of weeks to complete.
Using a controller on this game is to be honest quite dreadful, anyway I have the game so I'll play it. I'd prefer to get it on PC and use a mouse and keyboard, maybe you can on a PS4 but I don't have a wireless mouse and keyboard.
