Immortalized is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Disturbed. The album was released on August 21, 2015 by Reprise Records, and is Disturbed's first studio album since Asylum, marking the longest gap between two studio albums in their career. It is also Disturbed's first album since 2002's Believe to receive a Parental Advisory sticker, although studio albums released in the interim have contained some profanity.
The album contains a cover of the 1964 song "The Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel, which marked Disturbed's highest ranked single on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 42.
With 98,000 copies of sold in its first week, Immortalized is Disturbed's fifth consecutive number-one debut on the United States Billboard 200 chart. They are the third band in history to achieve this feat, after Metallica and Dave Matthews Band.

Perfect if you're an angry 13 year old and it's 2002. Terrible if you like metal though.

thanks for the ideas. did think of sampling, but just also looking for a heads up from someone who may have more old school tastes that might have found this appealing.... after a few listens

Wow, lot of very metal fans. I like 80s metal, like AC-DC (Rock aficionados: please refrain from declaring that they never perceived themselves as a metal band). Would this be worth a punt, or would I be likely to find it a bit too thrash.

Why don't you use Spotify or some other such free streaming service to determine how they sound.... or at the least maybe Amazon do some short samples of the songs available.
Not in the vein of AC-DC at all btw.

I would say only! After sampling what they did (never heard of them before) when I heard The sound of silence I was deeply un-impressed. Certainly not my type of music. Stick to Simon & garfunkel thanks :innocent:

Saw these guys a real long time ago supporting Marilyn Manson at the Docklands arena. Quite decent. It's hammy but an electric chair was part of the act. Had the first album.
Not entirely sold on the Simon and Garfunkel cover, a) the original is one the finest recordings of the 60s, and b) I've always had an aversion to rock or metal bands doing straight covers of ballads, i.e. Limp Bizkit doing Behind Blue Eyes, etc. I find it hard not to cringe.
Anyway good deal if you're interested in this album. Last thing I heard of them before was a decent cover of Land of Confusion by Genesis.

Growly growly, and way too fast thrashy drums/guitar.
Never heard them, but I'm guessing the above is accurate.
