Looking for a replacement for my Yamaha RX-V673 so that I can play 4K/60p content without issues.
The Denon seems to tick all the boxes and this is the cheapest that I can find it at present (couldn't see a cheaper deal on here). The 2016 model 2300W doesn't seem to add much considering it is £200 more.
Site states 3 year free warranty.

You've got the wrong brand, it's some other unknown brand, can't remember which one now but it's definitely not Sony, that has the Louthborough Guy meme.

depends how many 4K sources you have? all UHD players have 2 HDMI outputs so 1 to the TV 1 to the AV amp so no need for a new amp.

are all the ports hdmi 2.0

Eight HDMI 2.0a inputs (one on the front panel) and two outputs.
The inputs are all capable of supporting HDR content and 4K upscaling up to 60fps, plus they’re all HDCP 2.2 compliant and offer 4:4:4 full colour resolution for 4K content.
as i have had the sony over 2 years now i dont think it supports 4k very well atm i have to plug direct into the tv hdmi port

Nice receiver with great specs. Denon have just released a new model but it's very similar.
Holding out for £250 but I'm sure stock will start dwindling.

Does PC use HDCP2.2 anyway? also the Xbox one doesn't bit stream uncompressed audio so its not a replacement to a standalone UHD bluray player.

Just purchased a few days ago for £299. Quite a bit of plastic compared to an old 3801 I had, doesn't support bi-amping requiring me to use the rear surround sound for bi-wiring and no dual band wifi.

HDMI 2.0 provides enough bandwidth for 2160p/60hz images, but the streaming services (Netflix etc.) will require HDCP2.2 compliance for 4K video. I don't think Amazon or Netflix have launched their 4K services on PC yet.
I'm very unclear which GPUs are HDCP2.2 certified, I'm sure Nvidia started compliance with their Titan/980Ti which would be bad news for owners of the earlier Maxwell cards (970/980).

if they're the specs. then you would have known that before you bought it, there's also little point bi-amping/bi-wiring if the amp shares the same power supply anyway.

can the 2nd hdmi output play the same or a different source in standby?
paulj48 to TJamz
20 Jun 16#20
Don't think the 2nd hdmi can play anything in standby, also the secoong HDMI isn't 'zonal' its just a mirror of hdmi 1 for the use of a projector.
If you want a true multizonal Amp on the HDMI at this price look at the Pioneer VSX-930

I have this amp along with a 4K Samsung TV and an HTPC with a GTX960 and it all works at HDCP 2.2 + 4:4:4 4K/60fps. Amazon Prime also streams some 4K UHD series, directly but not to the PC.

I upgraded to this amp a few months ago from my Yamaha. I think the newer model is meant to be slightly better but the 2200 is very very good and for £289 its amazing value!
The only thing i have to say against the 2200 (and many reviews mention this) is the bass. After i did the calibration I was seriously underwhelmed- it was just sooo weak! Took days of LFE research, adjusting receiver speaker settings/values and subwoofer messing about to get to a stage where I was truly happy- just a warning!

This is the issue, there are still no streaming services to test these features properly.
I've forced HDCP 2.2 on the 970/980 Ti but it appears to add slight stuttering in 4:4:4/60Hz. The DRM causes it to exceed the bandwidth of the connection.
The latest rumour is that we will need a 1070/1080 (Polaris) if Netflix decide to use PlayReady 3.0 certification.

yes
In addition to handling 4K Ultra HD 3840x2160 resolution, the AVR-X2200W also features HDR (

So I am going to ask a really stupid question as I am grossly ignorant of these systems. Do they support any kind of "wireless" for the rear surround speakers, or is that only for playing music around the house?
I currently am only using 3.1 with my current AV becuase I have no way to trail speaker cable around the living room.

1070/1080 is Nvidia, Polaris (460/470/480) is AMD.

Same thing coming from a sony str-dn1050 which has really good bass. :disappointed: I found the calibration set all the speakers and sub way too low.. Not perfect but I got a cheapo sound meter from amazon and set the speakers using that and now things sound much better. The sub alone went from -11 to -6, need to tinker some more before sending it back as I like the sound better on the denon overall.

I've been waiting for my Onkyo 605 to die to pick one of these up. The new 2300W looks identical, I'd much prefer to save £200 and get this. Sadly the Onkyo refuses to die with dignity.

I've currently got a Denon 1612 which has an annoying capacitor problem (so I understand from Googling) which means if it's warm when you turn it on it just repeatedly turns on and off in a never ending cycle, tempted by this but suspicious of buying another Denon and concerned at the reported bass config issues. Hmm...

The bass config could all be down to the Audyssey auto calibration - I have an older version of Audyssey on my Onkyo and it calibrated my amp a little too bass-lite for my taste. Just adjust the sub's dB manually afterwards.
