With a name like Lucifer you'd think it would make your PC run hotter.

Very good price, just bare in mind it's 168mm tall so do check your case before buying!

cheers OP was looking for a cheap cooler.

It is pretty big but it's also great cooling for the money. I just wish they did one with the fan in red to match my colour scheme!

How would this compare to a hyper evo 212?

The Lucifer is about 7% better than the Hyper 212 (or about 2" degrees cooler) Tests vary A LOT, most the the Hyper 212 results are higher than my own tests with a higher overclock so take them with a grain of salt

I have the original on a 5930k,great cooler!

Nearly 1100g with one fan. Ouch. These air coolers really are bordering on crazy heavy, although this isn't quite the heaviest. I was nervous many years ago about putting nearly 1kg on an expensive thick X58 solid feeling board and beast large (for the time) 1366 CPU. Now many reports point out the small Skylake CPUs have thinner substrates and are more prone to pressure related damage.
Put one of these on a cheaper thinner board that is more flexible, I wouldn't advise moving your case around much. Not likely to be a problem if you don't move it though. Check and double check mounting details on individual coolers, your mileage may vary...

Not quite 1100g... received mine today and the heatsink on it's own is 730g and the fan is 140g.

Also worth pointing out that this has a larger fan and cooling area so it's going to be cooler than the evo while being near silent

It is reported that the damage due to weight is likely caused during transit. Even so, that's an awful lot of weight to put on any chip, never mind a Skylake.
I have just built a system with a Skylake and I went for the hyper 212X. It's only 500 g and one of the best on the market. It is around the £30 mark.

Looks interesting. I'm in the market for a new system and 'quiet' is one of my requirements. One issue with large CPU coolers is that they take up more space in the case which results in reduced airflow compared to a stock cooler. In large cases this is less of an issue but in a micro case you certainly notice the difference.

That would make it much much lighter than what Deepcool themselves claim. Strange.

I have just weighed the intel bag of brackets and screws etc. and that is another 145g - i can only imagine that the 1079g that is stated on the box is a total of all this weight... which is a bit misleading if it puts people off thinking the actual heat sink is 1079g

... it just arrived. I can't believe how much effort they've put into the packaging and presentation for a CPU cooler. Now, to see if it will actually fit into my case...

You can't believe how much effort they put into the packaging, I can't believe what a monster it is. That heat sink is just extremely massive. I have my doubt that it would fit in my existing case unless I cut a hole in it...

Go for Noctua rather than this bulky nonsense.. I have had this and i build computers and believe me this is not better than the cheap Freezer 7
On a different note, I had to send it back. It does not fit my case. Had to go for a gammaxx 400.

Sorry to hear - I had a panic in my build this evening where I thought I couldn't have the RAM and fan attached at the same time - thankfully the fan is quite versatile in height it's installed on the heat sink.
But I completely underestimated the size. I have Fractal 4 side view case and I was beginning to question if it would fit, in the end it does, but not by much! And the R4 is a huge case!!
For anyone who reads this in the future: On a 6600K w/o OC under Prime95 stress test, I struggle to get above 60C.
