Oh not, not in rehab.. Clearly! :stuck_out_tongue:
Look, I know about picking up UV codes on the cheap as a good way of "Renting" titles here and there. After that though there comes a point where if the services UI is bad, then it becomes a genuine hassle to try and watch anything other than "recently added" in your collection.
Stateside Vudu have nailed it, no doubt. As far a UV goes then it is every bit as good, no strike that, better than what iTunes is capable of right now. (3D titles, 7.1 audio, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision and UHD) I cheat my way into that service and use it regularly. (Limited to 1080p though in my case.)
But for standard UK based folk then there's no way I'd recommend them a UV based service right now. iTunes, Amazon, Google or if budget allows then Blu-Ray and add into your choice of media server setup. But horses for courses etc.

4 Jul 16#24
How long have you been in film rehab? yes the world of UV is not perfect. IF you have a 50" TV then Full HD is better. on the flip side 720p is good enough for most and most won't notice the difference. As for browsing I have about 60 movies, total cost about £55. If I bought the same on non-UV then you are looking at around £150-200

When you get into hundreds of titles through UV then YES, it is so bad. For one, it requires endless poxy scrolling to get to a title you own. Two, you don't even get all HD UV titles playable in HD via Flixster.
Going back to your original point. Playable on Roku.. Basically leaves the Sainsburys App, which is a single column, horizontal scrolling collection that skips around 6 titles across, every 4 seconds or so. Not that Sainsburys have rights to a lot of titles anyway. So many kinds of awesome.
As for "Browser", again, even if you pickup titles in HD then there's a heck of a lot of titles that you can't watch in HD through it.
Other alternatives? Blinkbox, Wuaki. Blinkbox is basically 720p with Stereo audio for most content. Wuaki has upgraded to 1080p, but again stereo audio. Plus it also has the same sort of UI problems as the Sainsburys app has.
What have I missed when I say every single Uv service in the Uk is terrible? Don't think I have..
Which of those is supposed to be the alternative to iTunes, or heck even Amazon or Google Play come to think of it..?
As I say, all UK UV services are terrible. I've got some 360 plus titles in UV so it isn't like I want that to be the case!!
mango carrot
3 Jul 16#17
I've tried the same with AirPlay, for some reason I always end up with buffering and a drop in quality. This only happens on the Flixster app, must be an issue with the way the code their streams because I've got an iPad Air 2 and 50MB which should handle anything
Gryzor
