it does puzzle me how much energy and emotion that people put into these comments. I would hope that someone would just write a reasonable review and leave out the drama. I like my machine a lot. It is noisy, but I have it in a place where I don't hear it all the time. The ice is softer than an ice cube tray in the freezer, but, you know what, I like that I can chew on it without hurting my teeth. The price is better than any other I have seen. I don't see a bacterial issue with the water, it is always refrigerated. I wish I had a refrigerator like I have had all my life in the states (ice and water in the door), but I don't, mostly don't have the room for it. I think this is a good product for the money. Both my husband and myself have really been enjoying ice filled drinks. If my flat were any smaller and I had to listen to it all the time, I might think twice about buying it. I hope this is helpful to anyone still considering a purchase.

Its not the worst, but its no good.
Ice cube trays is actually far better for me. I might of kept mine if the ice was bigger, harder and not so noisy. It really buzzes far far more than my family fridge freezer.

Here is my 2 cents: I have owned it for 2 days now and the product is what I expected at a lower price than I thought I expected to pay. I am American and am used to having ice, crushed or cubed, in the door of my refrigerator. I talked about buying an icemaker before I even moved here 2 years ago and now I have one. I like this product a lot. I spent all day in London today. I was tired and sticky with sweat after carrying groceries home. As soon as I came home I had a giant glass of ice with soda over it...omg...it was amazing. The machine does recycle the drops that melt, but it is constantly refrigerated, so I don't see a bacterial issue. If one is concerned about too much recycled water, just let it run dry and start again. I think it is a good product and worth the money. I had not thought about cleaning maintenance, maybe one a month run through a load with a SLIGHT bleach solution and DO NOT USE that load. What I do know is that I am pleased with the product. It isn't near my lounge or bedroom, but I can see how the noise would bother someone if it was. Oh, I also keep my Britta pitcher next to the machine, I don't want to have worry about scale build up.

Jesus, this sounds like the worst thought out piece of Chinese crap I have ever seen.
Over inflated RRP, and recycles the cubes continuously, making Ice cubes from old water, then leaving them to melt, and make the same against out of the same standing smelly water.
Get your RMA in asap under distance selling regulations, and just buy a £1 of ice every month, save a fortune inc no electricity costs.

Do people leave standing water in it or empty it each time? I thought water left at room temperature for long would become full of bacteria?
dr_genestealer
9 Jun 16#119
I found the first few loads of cubes are small and soft, but once the water becomes colder then the ice cubes become larger in size.
asters
9 Jun 16#118
There must be a problem with it, ours has been churning out perfect ice for about 2 years. As good as any freezer made ice. Wouldn't be without ours now,
happenstance
9 Jun 16#117
More like a tap that takes 10 mins to spit out any water.
The ice it makes is pretty soft. Nothing like ice from the freezer.
dr_genestealer
9 Jun 161#116
A bit like an oven then?
happenstance
9 Jun 16#115
So its a uslesss bit of kit really. Turning it off and on and if there's a few of you have to put it on half an hour before hand.
Master G
9 Jun 16#114
I'm not surprised you found it noisy if you had it on overnight
It takes 6 minutes to make enough ice for a drink. If you had it on all night, you must have made and melted the same ice about a dozen times.
happenstance
9 Jun 16#113
Mines going back, it's noisey and the ice this morning was all slushy.
No. When it's full it turns off (ice blocks a IR photo detector light beam), then when after a while some ice melts and it starts making more.
Chiptivo
8 Jun 16#110
Agree masterg. I had an american fridge in the old place and loved the ice. I looked at these makers and am close on buying one. I like the idea of it to be honest.
What is putting me off is the expense, quality of the ice compared to supermarket, cost of the ice, noise of the machine, and size of it..
I'm not sure either, but an ok deal. However I think a lot of people bought the deal because of the RRP, but in reality this is about £10 cheaper than you can buy the same device (rebadged) on ebay.
Master G
8 Jun 16#109
As i said earlier, each to their own. I'm not knocking your choice, i just prefer mine.
Chiptivo
8 Jun 16#108
Does this not defeat the object of it against buying a £1 bag of ice (Normally made from a natural spring source) from the supermarket?
Master G
8 Jun 16#107
Then you either make just enough for your immediate needs or you put the surplus in a zip bag and put it in the freezer.
Chiptivo
8 Jun 16#106
It will then melt?
Master G
8 Jun 16#105
You do know it has an on/off switch right? You make just as much as you require.
Chiptivo
8 Jun 16#104
Even when it is full it will keep compressing to stop the ice melting. Will end up costing more than Co op bags of ice just to run. :disappointed:
Master G
8 Jun 161#103
Like everything, it's not for everyone. I don't have room in my freezer for a large bag of ice. With this, i can make it as i need it.

8 Jun 16#102
I've shut the door between the kitchen and the lounge and it's still **** me off. Hope it shuts up when it's full up.
Damn anyone know how much returns are?
Chiptivo
8 Jun 16#101
I buy a bag of ICE from the CO-OP every month, 4 years of ICE from the co-op would buy this minus the electricity charges so not a deal for me.
The RRP is a joke, these are on ebay for a very similar price.

I am looking forward to receiving mine, but they keep pushing the delivery date on me. I was told that it was processed today, 2 days after I ordered it, and scheduled for delivery tomorrow, but because of "high interest in the product" it could take 2-3 days and I can't rearrange my schedule, AGAIN! I am just frustrated with the wait and how I was treated on live chat, disconnected twice and ignored for up to 10 minutes before they answered a question. Whomever was making the mojitos...could you pass one my way??? I am thinking watermelon daiquiris this weekend!
Master G
8 Jun 16#99
Mine isn't that noisy at all. That said, it is in the kitchen, but i've left the door between there and the living room open. Some of the Amazon reviews did mention the noise none said it was overly loud.

No, this is a substance at the bottom of the machine stuffed in a hole. It looks very strange that it's exposed like it is! I thought it might be insulation of some sort but now i'm wondering.
Master G
8 Jun 161#89
I'm guessing the "filler" is the insulation. The hole is where it is pumped in. The thing won't work without it.
