Visited Costco Thurrock / Lakeside and noticed that fuel now available (some other branches have fuel already and there appears to be plan to extend to others).
Diesel (104.9p) was 4p cheaper than best local alternative of Tesco Lakeside (108.9p) according to petrolprices.com latest update.
As usually case with Costco, members only deal, but saving on full tank for me is ~£2.50 so I will get most of my yearly membership cost back by filling up when I visit to buy other items.
Appears to be fully automated and debit rather than credit card after first scan membership card.
Handy for M25 / A13 traffic if you are unfortunate enough to have to commute in this area.

It's their own mix of additives - considered to be a higher grade than most other varieties in the UK (certainly better than supermarkets). I've seen Texaco trucks and Esso trucks filling up the station at the Bristol warehouse. So suspect it's supplied by various sources, but always to Costco's spec.

From what I understand Costco premium diesel is on par with bp and shell products

Not surprisingly, no.
But I did get a nice bloke come over to ask if I needed any help using the pumps. Bit like a personal shopper service in a way.

same question - is it really "premium" diesel? any specs/info on that? Others are selling premium diesel at around £1.3/L I think.

Diesel was premium and petrol was
standard or premium. Not sure if that makes it equivalent to shell nitro or bp momentum diesel which is quite a bit more expensive?

It's also a different measuring system, our 95 is the same as USA 91 grade.

Well spotted, that was image I grabbed from web to illustrate which must be non UK location.
As noted by srp111, I think the choices at the pump were two petrol and diesel.
