There is an active listing for this at £13.99 for Argos' own website but this is obviously a better deal at £2 cheaper and including delivery. No doubt the unit has its limitations, for instance a comment in the other listing mentions that although it has a USB port it can only be used for charging, however for a simple FM radio alarm with Bluetooth it has to be a steal.

This is just what i'm looking for the bathroom...800 hrs battery life that should see me through 800 baths or 2400 Shower,Sh** &Shaves...
The fit is tight (stupid full size SD card), so need to cut away a little bit more tomorrow, as currently the radio wont power on as the mini USB connector doesnt fit (the RPi is pushing the casing out slightly).

No, it's got a massive plastic tube/block inside in which the speaker sits (helps with amplification), but there's enough space at either side to mount a RPi. Just needs a small section cut away to fit with the SD card in.
If I dont forget, I'll get some pictures...

Mine's already in bits and will meet Dr Dremel tomorrow to create some space to fit a RPi inside.

Is it just empty space inside? A picture would be great!

I'm really happy with mine - looks nice and sounds nice
Louder than I thought (considering it's only 4 watts), but you'll probably want something a bit more powerful if you're having a party or whatever
It also has two alarms that can be set to different stations, which is a nice touch

Just received and tested it.
Why is it so big? Must just be a big empty box!
Initial impression, I'm a bit disappointed with the quality, my cheap bluetooth speakers are better.
For the price it isn't bad and handy having a radio built in, but it's a shame the sound isn't a bit better.

cold: surely a radio which only plays Classic FM is unnecessarily limited?

Oh ignore me. I thought I was still talking about the microbit. It's been a long day.

You're incorrect. This can be powered from the batteries. There is no clock to back up.

Yes you can power it from the batteries.

Have to pass on that, sorry. Not something I`ve tried. I use it as an alarm clock / charger in the bedroom only. Don`t use BT apart from transferring photos to the laptop when I cant be bothered to hunt down a cable, and still use a specific MP3 player on the go, so got nothing on the phone to even try it with.

Do you know if it stays permanently paired to a phone if it's on, or only when you press the source button to switch to bluetooth mode?

Just had a look for you.
Charger output is 5V 1.5A, but the radio itself has a 5V 1.0A usb output on it (I use it to charge my phone overnight), so logically it cant be more than 500mA at full whack.
Just FYI, I bought 2 in the clearance at £9.99, but that was in store.
Will be getting a 3rd.

Looks like the batteries might be for clock backup only, can anybody confirm whether this can be run on batteries?

Have this, its a cracker of a buy. 2 AAA for memory back up only. No battery power option, although being usb powered, no reason why a decent powerbank wouldn't do the job and workout cheaper in the long run?
Great sounding radio, decent tone and surprisingly powerful. Although a lot smaller than expected. It really is an alarm clock with a decent speaker on it.

Could you share the link to the radio on Argos's website please? I can't find it myself and I would like to know a little more about this radio.
