No good to me as you cant vary the water amount being dispensed but might help some
Breville's first generation hot water dispenser
Fast boil 3 kW concealed element for maximum efficiency and easy clean
Dispenses five cups without refilling so you only boil the amount of water you need
No mess drip tray and easy to fill
1.5 litre illuminating water tank with extra-large rear water window

Parents have one of these they're brilliant. This looks like a newer model, but theres a dial on theirs for how much water goes into the cup and also a stop button to stop dispensing if it is too much, which is helpful. Love these though, if I was in a position to need a kettle then I would buy this in a beat!!

I've also been using the same one for around 3 years now & still think it's great.
If the water comes out lukewarm you have a faulty item lol.
So quick as well.

I've owned one of these Breville's (with the variable control) for the past six years. Fantastic energy saving device, boils, yes boils water within 30 seconds. Anyone saying it's lukewarm has certainly got a faulty device. The only issue I have is that the blue LEDs have dimmed when it's on (this started about 2 months ago) still boils perfectly fine though.

I found out the variable 1 does leak from body, but breville will offer you a replacement if out of warranty at a reasonable price,

Does anyone have any experience of the variable dispensing version? Price drops seem quite rare on that one so might have to just use some Amazon vouchers on it rather than wait for a deal on it.
Alternatively, is it easy enough with this version to just press the dispense button twice if needed and remove the cup before it overflows and let it run into the overflow tray?

I have had for about 4 years. No issues. Would replace with another.
I have one of these and they work great, its not much on an issue you cant adjust the amount of water, just press it twice or move the cup before it overflows, great for my blind uncle as no chance of overdoint it!

I know this is not a review site but I have owned a few of these and this is what I found.
I have one of each of the Morphy Richards instant hot water models, both have variable water adjustment. The more expensive one is digitally controlled and can dispense anything between 150ml and 1,5 liters, it can dispense to two mugs simultaneously. Both make boiling hot water with the top model having three temperature settings. They are more expensive then this but are far superior, i have had both this and the variable pour breville the difference is definitely worth the price difference. If you can afford it go for the more expensive one.
In saying all that this is still a very good price for the breville.
Get a stainless steel kettle - or boil water in the cup using microwave.

been making my tea using a microwave-safe tea mug (£1 Asda ) 2 minutes on low-mid power for near boiling water.

Should have took it back for a refund, it should produce water hot enough to scald yourself, which mine does

Yes I second that. Water is not boiled just mildly hot when it comes out this. Mine is sat doing nothing in a cupboard now if anyone wants it for free. Please let me know

Its just a kettle many people think it keeps water hot and you just press a button and ir pours hot water but that's not how it works.it needs to boil the water every time just like regular kettles..kind of pointless imo.

True but I run it till its as hot as can be for circa a minute then fill up the singing kettle for a cuppa Percol Black & Beyond, with a cm of cold water then dissolve Percol coffee and half a teaspoon brown sugar topped up by the singing kettle
English water from the tap destroys any drink imo, I used bottled Scots water down south for a cuppa

I always run both anyway, no lead here as house built late 60's (and checked) but I know anywhere in the chain there could be lead...thanks for posting that as many people wont know about it and I did not know the brochure existed even though I know about its contents.
On the negative side my old man moans everytime I let the combi run for hot water for a minute haha

This refers to water which has been in a storage tank not a combi boiler which comes straight from the mains the same as your cold water does.

Not recommended using the hot water tap for cooking or drinking.
Use a whistle kettle, much cheaper to boil than electric but slighty longer, gas is a fraction of electricity. The old man had a baxi combi fire and a electric tank (back up) and come replacement ripped the electric out the cupboard and put the new combi in there.
If you can use gas for heating water, do it. I take hot water from the tap and boil...quick as electric.

It's a fancy kettle so the water comes out virtually at boiling temperature. I have the variable dispenser version and it's great.

Does it have that plastic smell all new kettles have? Gone back to a saucepan for boiling water but it's a bit of a pain,
