I tried out this Bose model and a Denon. I ended up going with the Denon because it was half the price and sounded better.
Yamaha soundbars are much better...still no substitute for properly positioned surround sound speakers (again, preferably British), but some people don't want wires all over the place...but Yamahas do at least do a credible job of virtual surround sound, something that manages to escape Bose, with its lack of deep bass and overall poor sound quality. The YSP-1400 is £300 on Amazon and I'd put my money in that, rather than Bose stuff, where most of the money you've paid goes into marketing, rather than product quality.

Totally agree, i have the Yamaha YSP1600 and for a soundbar its sound separation is truly superb. I came from 5.1 separates of 13 years and was nervous but i needn't have been. It has changed the way i watch tv now. Where as before my wife wouldn't have the surround on cus "we're just watching casualty" now it's obviously on all the time and it's great especially with a true 5.1 source, it really shows off :smiley:

Mine's going back. It's actually the original solo, not the series 2, and so doesn't have Bluetooth as described on Costco's shelf label. It's the going rate for them.

Which? was unimpressed with the Solo 15 I. The original Solo was a Don't Buy and their summary of the Solo 15 I was "Plenty of power, goes loud without distorting" but " Sound is unnatural, no Bluetooth". The Solo II has Bluetooth and may well have better sound but I don't think I'd risk it. They recommended the Yamaha SRT-1000 over the Solo I so that may be a safer buy than the Solo II.
