My son needs an 18 bike now he is 6 nearly 7 however he is a very confident rider. 16 he would be able to ride but it wouldn't last. hope this helps

A quick google told me 18" was 6-8 and 16" 5-7, but I've honestly no idea on the subject

Won't that be too big for an 7 year old unless he's really tall? My nephew's 7, average height, and struggles with a 16.
