Most comic shops are selling this for around £20 at the moment as it hasn't been in print for a while.

Wow this makes me feel proper old, it's in a box along with all my original Judge Dredd comics, ROTJ Comics issues 1-110, White Dwarf mags 54-120 (sporadic earlier copies) and half a tonne of citadel miniatures from '84-'88...Halcyon Days indeed!
Just noticed you can also pre-order the blu ray, SO excited for the release.

Great, I've been looking for this under £10 for a while. Already have the paperback and really wanted the hardback, especially with the upcoming release of the animated movie. An absolute must read for any comic book fan.

Good grief, I remember picking this up at the mask shop at Benbom Brothers Margate back in '88. It speaks to the quality of any work that you remember the day you encountered it long after your thieving family have stolen it, along with your copy of Airtight Garage...

The movie looks kinda trash though. Lame art style .
Great book though, my favourite batman book as a kid. 5 year old me didn't realise how dark it was heh

Superb graphic novel. My all time favourite. I still have a 1st edition I bought as a student. Boy, I feel old!

Not sure why this is heated, as it's cheaper at Speedyhen and Wordery.
Still, good to see a comics deal on here. Killing Joke is a great read, although it's worth noting that the new hardback editions use a new colour scheme that alters the feel of the book quite a bit - it's subtler, with monochrome sections and far less of the neon brightness of the original.
It's artist Brian Bolland's preferred colouring, but I have to say I favour the garish original.
Oh, and they also removed the yellow oval from the Bat-costume... :disappointed:

It's always been around this price at Amazon with free delivery as far as I remember.
Woo! Thanks for the info. I was wondering when it was going to be available.

I have a first print edition with the raised green lettering on the front. It's in a baggy locked away in a cool, dry...ottoman

It's almost always this price on Amazon. Has been for years. It occasionally creeps up by a quid or two, then drops again.

I was interested to read about the spotlighting aspect of this decision :
"The Deluxe Editon has Brian Bolland himself did the remastering of the colour. It's said in the Introduction by Tim Sale (yes, the artist himself for the TV series HEROES), that "Bolland's colors are characteristically thoughtful and restrained."
But what I like most is how the flashback sequences have Bolland "washes out all color in each one...but chooses to spotlight an object in each in increasingly shades of red, all leading up to...the Red Hood"
Yeah, both approaches have their merits. It's one of those cases where I think there's an argument for reading/owning both copies.

I must admit, I prefer the colourful version from the pics I've seen, but I'm thinking of buying this as a present for a hardcore fan so I'm not sure whether to get that, or the one that's true the artists vision.. decisions decisions..

I'd get this one, the original is a little harder to come by unless you buy it as part of a larger Alan Moore collection - plus this deluxe version also includes a separate short story by Bolland, 'An Innocent Guy', which is a fun little extra that's not in the original version.
