user of one here! I use it for FM2015 on the train when going marketing. I recently installed portal and life is strange on it and both ran fine too. turn based games like panzer tactics hd or xcom great too. can also plug it into a monitor with hdmi cable and run office! main selling point for me is 8 hour battery life. unique feature. I have dual booted it with android via remixos though had to uninstall as couldn't get it to run from external memory card, only internal card, and then I ran out of space. could always try again with smaller partition size or see if they have fixed that 'bug'. highly recommended. oh... I also use it for steam play from my desktop computer to my bedroom. watching sports etc is easier with a full pc than tablets as has full 'flash'. Netflix great on it as it is windows 8 so get the full 1080p 5.1 hdmi out app. Oh just seen this version is 64gb. mine is 32gb. so remixos would work great! damn

Got one of these on the last deal, very pleased with it.
I turned it on and done the basic setup, whilst checking for updates it offered me Windows 10 so I just installed that and never used Windows 8.1 on it. Boots quicker than my desktop PC that has a 1TB Samsung SSD in, mainly because it has a UEFI BIOS. Useable as soon as you login. Videos play without issue and webpages also scroll without problems. I've installed Chrome and it performs without problems with 4 or 5 tabs open. You can see it's using the memory up but if you're aware of it then it isn't an issue. Scrolling is smooth. Not advertised but mine came with an 'active' (battery powered) stylus and a 1 year subscription to Office 365.
Casing is metal and a lovely shade of blue. The keyboard gets a bit of criticism in the Notebook Check review but I've not had any problems with it. It's Bluetooth rather than a connector like a Surface, but it wakes up and connects very quickly. There's a utility in Windows which tells you how much battery life the keyboard has left as well. These really are a premium product, much better built than the plastic cased Lynx or HP stuff. Screen is glossy and very reflective, so not great for outdoor use or with a window directly behind you. It is an IPS screen though so good viewing angles.
The charger is via USB and will charge from pretty much any standard charger, though it's quicker with the supplied one as it does 9v @ 2amp (very odd) if it's plugged into the tablet. Standard 5v @ 2amp if using with the keyboard.
There's a (mini) USB 3 connector the side that can be used as USB3 or USB2. I've used it with an OTG cable to read a pen drive without issue.
The keyboard keys are a bit small but it doesn't take long to get used to using them, if you're going to be typing on it. Out of the box it comes scaled to 150% in Windows which makes it easier to use, though older applications don't take advantage of this so can look very small.
People have commented that they're concerned it's a previous generation CPU. The newer X8300 and X8500 do have better graphics, but on synthetic benchmarks the Z3775 comes out pretty much the same. Worth noting that this isn't using the Z3735 that seems to come in most cheaper Windows tablets.
Service from Laptopsdirect was good, first one arrived with a cracked screen (internal box was dented). Sent me a returns label and shipped me a new one.

If you go to this post here you'll get alot of useful info, this is a fantastic little tablet-laptop, I bought one last time and am so impressed. It's quite fast, has good battery and takes all the games I've tried fine, apart from the latest gen ones of course

But if you see carefully, all of those negative bar 2 were for the 32GB Transromer T100 version which is totally different series.
T100CHI is from ASUS Taichi legacy and it's their most premium series along with Zenbooks.
Amazon just merged all these modes in 1 listing and hence combined the reivews which confuses people.

depends where and when you use it. it is very portable. great for the train and the couch. less good for serious work as a laptop as screen is small. but if you have a spare monitor and desk lying around you can plug it in. for portability and battery life i love it and use it more than bulkier laptops with bigger screens as they have smaller battery life

This will certainly be better than your 7 year old laptop, it has a decent processor for something this size, 2GB RAM is enough for mulitasking, browsing, and handling light-mid gaming, and this is a cracking price imo

hi i am at work so cannot write in full. the standard download didn't work..something to do with security settings on bios..i ended up stuck in a loop and had to restore back up image from windows boot up screen (thankfully I didn't wipe that!)
but there was a special page on xda developers. they had a special installer and you just pointed it to remixos image file. when I installed it on my d drive ie memory card. i couldn't boot from it. and I don't know enough about grub to edit the bootloader. so I then installed it on my c drive. that allows me to select at boot up. however i uninstalled it as i ran out of space on my c drive for windows and even though i told steam to install games on my d drive, some games didn't run as I think they need to install directx etc on c drive. so i recently wiped remixos as wanted to play a windows game with my son. i did have an 8gb android partition on 32gb c drive. this is 64gb and i could try again with a smaller android partition. i recall playing angry birds the one with cars in it.... and also netflix and scratch jr and maths planet all worked fine.

Can't have everything for just over 100 quid xD I agree, cherry trail would be nice, however this processor isn't terrible for something this size, it does beat most tablets, even if it doesn't stand up to most laptops.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, I too DID wonder actually?, hmmmmmmmmmm.
So RemixOS installs on this flawlessly then?, that's actually GOOD to hear, I'm still deliberating that RemixOS 'Option' for 1 or 2 Windows based Tablets I have too, but was mad hesitant for fear of killing them! (as I'd ideally luvvvvvvvv to stick RemixOS on allllllll!!).
Knowing that it both Dual-Boots, and that the Touchscreen element of it works all good too, is very handy to know also. :-)
Is this particular OP's ASUS Tablet-Combo (as like your own purchase too) 32-Bit Windows?, or 64-Bit Windows?.
2 questions:
Have you installed Google Play Store on it yet? (& if so, does all the Playstore App's 'function' like how they otherwise would IF they were on Google's Android?).
And secondly, have your tried RemixOS in Dual-Boot fashion on a 'Non-Touch' Windows Device?, eg. Laptop, PC, etc? (& if so, how did the 'Touch-enabled' element of RemixOS fair upon a strictly 'Non-Touch' Machine?, or ..... )
Thanx in advance. :-)

hi. playstore and amazon app store worked. i did have problems installing from remixos website and did have to use xda developers. and i couldn't get it on d drive. i have installed remixos dual boot on lots of laptops. this was the hardest due to secure boot. if you have a keyboard then easy to select different operating systems. i have a touch screen dell xps 18 and cannot select remix os without plugging in a usb keyboard. so if you had tablet only you wouldn't be able to select. but if you had a keyboard connected then can select at start up. dual os is cool as lots of good apps for android but also can run full browser and programs on windows.

MINIMUM:
OS: Windows 7 or Newer (This has 8 upgradeable to 10)
Processor: 2.4 GHz Dual core (this is quad core, good enough)
Memory: 2 GB RAM (this meets that)
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 260 or ATI 4850 (integrated graphics are fine)
DirectX: Version 9.0c (yup)
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 5 GB available space
This easily fills all the minimum reqs, personally RL never uses more than 500MB of RAM but still, it can run it fine yea

Hi All, I got one of these the last time they came on offer. Really pleased with it, performs well and its well made. The only surprise is you have to charge the tablet and keyboard separately (charging the tablet doesn't also charge the keyboard), whilst acceptable it takes a little while to get used to, the keyboard doesn't need to be charged as often as the tablet but worth considering!

Yeah. I have had a nightmare trying to replace my internal network card in my existing laptop, and have failed twice.
The ebay auction states "WiFi 802.11 b/g/n", which should be good enough.
I would like real world confirmation that someone has used this with the xbox app with no lag, preferably with a virgin media superhub 2.
I don't want much do I?
joshtbh

Being honest and in my experience I would lean on the side of this not functioning with the Xbox streaming without lag. You could get a USB to ethernet adapter though but you have the hassle of it not being a wireless system then.

24 Jun 16#70
I went down the internal route, first buying another non AC card (like a prat), then secondly (buying an AC card that still refuses to function properly (despite many driver changes and things like covering pins on the card to get around bios locks etc).
I just need to get a USB AC network device, or possibly just upgrade laptop (2nd Gen i5, 8gb ram, SSD, but nearly 5 years old with no USB3 or AC).
jameshothothot
24 Jun 16#72
i cannot comment on xbox streaming but is fine for my steam streaming which i use via my desktop plugged into modem via ethernet and this connected to 5ghz wifi. there is some latency and might be a problem for online shooters but for batman etc all fine.

For anybody on the fence due to the older CPU, it compares well with the top end x7-Z8700 in the Surface 3, very close. Which makes it faster than the newer x3 or x5 Cherry Trails. The graphics are another story, twice as fast on the x7. But pure CPU power is respectable enough.

After having 2 asus tablets in the family (nexus and a previous transformer) I wouldn't touch that companies tablets with a barge pole.
My samsung tab2 is the oldest in the family, I think its about 4 or 5 and it still works I'm using it to type this, my boyfriend got a Asus Nexus after I bought mine, the thing started playing up after about 2 years if that the battery isn't great, it was given to our son briefly but then died completely last year so I got him a kindle fire for Christmas.
My boyfriend got a asus transformer, the touchscreen stopped working, it got sent back under warrenty last year and fixed, then the touchscreen stopped working again a few months later outside of warrenty so the keyboard has to be always plugged in, the power button keeps moving about inside so you have to open it and put the pad back on the contacts, now it wont charge past 46% and dies when it gets to about 30% alleged charge.
I've just bought him a Samsung Tab A from argos that he's gonna pay me back for.
I'm not saying Asus are on the whole a bad company, my laptop is Asus and thats atleast 8 years old and I've always been happy with it, I just dont trust their tablets.

Looking into it....Chuwi Hi10 is about the same price or less, and with a more modern cpu that has better gpu in it - so probably the better buy (if don't mind generally buying from China sellers)
edit : i retract that a little - didn't realise this also comes with keyboard - makes the choice of value a little harder - but depends what main use of it is for I guess. Haven't compared actual screen quality yet

To the first, yes you need a USB keyboard as when you first install everything you won't have the drivers for the Bluetooth keyboard activated yet? That is at least my understanding of it
Bluetooth and sound working fine, spoken to several who did it and I have a friend who did the same on a similar tablet PC ^^
To the second, the keyboard is a UK layout yes

This replacing a few years old HP G6 i5 with 4 ram for me. (with several years of crap installed obv)
Having put win 10 on it, this actually boots about 10 times faster and is quicker to start and use apps and browser.
Dropbox synced great, Calibre library runs really well. Won't be doing much else with it tbh, might put office on.
Most importantly, mrs is super happy with it.

Windows 8/10 work on tablets with much less ram - Microsoft was desperate to compete with Android so actually did some slimming down on the OS. I have an older windows 8 tablet with 1gb, works fine for basic browsing.
Of course, you load some software that needs lots of ram ........ won't work so well :-)

This will work fine with Windows 10, it is a relatively modern laptop built to run on the latest OS like 8.1 and 10, 2GB RAM is more than enough for multitasking, office work, light-mid gaming.
If you want to play the latest games, or demanding games on high res, this will not work for you, and if you want render videos, then this will not work either. But apart from that, you should be good

Will this play 1080p video content from my Gopro 3+, or will it struggle?
arfster
26 Jun 16#115
I've played 4k video off youtube no problem. As long as the video player supports hardware acceleration it'll work fine, the cpu will be sub20% and will even underclock itself because it's barely being used.

Thanks - i only ask, as this would be a replacement for my now antique Asus eePc 1005HA. This, I think has the Intel Atom N280 processor and will not play 1080p at all.
Only use it for holidays, so this machine sounds like a great upgrade.

It does not come with a case, I recommend looking for the official ASUS one, or buying one from Amazon, like maybe this one here?
As for SD, but it from someone like base.com, MyMemory, or again Amazon, then you know you'll get a legit card. I picked up a 64GB for £13 on the MyMemory ebay outlet a while back

Same product available from ebuyer.com or Argos on eBay for £149.99.
Yes you need a keyboard to dual boot. and bluetooth i cannot remember on this device. most devices have unfortunately had bluetooth problems but I cannot remember which ones! but they are updating the software as it has updated at least once

This is the one that worked! Unfortunately only my c:\ drive not d:\ drive as I wasn't smart enough to edit the bootloader.
nb the instructions still seem to be for android x86 so you have to download the remix os PC image from remix os website and then select that file instead
james, that is for the T100, not the CHI100, which is upgraded
This is more than capable for running Minecraft
CPU: Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 (K8) 2.6 GHz.
RAM: 2GB.
GPU (Integrated): Intel HD Graphics or AMD (formerly ATI) Radeon HD Graphics with OpenGL 2.1.
GPU (Discrete): Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT or AMD Radeon HD 2400 with OpenGL 3.1.
HDD: At least 200MB for Game Core and Other Files.
Java 6 Release 45.
Those are system reqs for Minecraft, this far exceeds them all and meets the 2GB RAM

Mine arrived this morning, currently charging the tablet and the keyboard.
Asus recommend 8 hours of charging for each so it's going to be used starting away from it!
The Chi stylus came included now I just need an otg adapter so it will have a makeshift USB port.
Going to try out rocket league when it's charged and upgraded to Windows10.

I was thinking you could get a male to male micro USB and link them together or even go via a USB hub with a standard lead. But as DatAlbino has said it lasts a lot longer so can be charged a lot less often.
Currently on charge - can't wait to use it. Thanks OP, looks a lovely piece of kit and absolute bargain!

Got mine today and very pleased with it and build quality puts my Linx 10 to shame. Got the 1 year office 365 subscription with mine which I hadn't seen mentioned in the description so that was a bonus. Just need to find out the battery life now.

28 Jun 16#148
Try unplugging and replugging in the micro USB. It should light up with a little orange LED when charging which goes white when fully charged. Also, have you plugged the charger into the screen (the micro USB on the bottom left side when facing the screen)
Finally, to power up you need to press and hold the power button
Hope that helps
BeatMaster
28 Jun 16#149
Where did you find the Office 365 subscription?
In terms of battery life, install BatteryBar which shows an estimated 11:35 on a full charge. Currently at 93.3% with an estimated run time of 10:47.
Mark64uk
28 Jun 16#150
I have got it plugged into the tablet half I've plugged in and out tried pressing power button also holding for 10,20,30 seconds and it wont power up i know the charger is working as it charges the keyboard fine. There are no lights whatsoever when charger is plugged into the tablet.

28 Jun 16#151
The office 365 prompt came up on the system tray I didn't do anything to trigger it. Yeah will install battery bar after the win10 upgrade has completed.
As for the powering on issue I had to leave mine plugged into a wall socket for a while before it would power on.
BeatMaster
29 Jun 16#152
Sadly could be DOA. There should a light which comes on alongside the power button edge of the tablet. Double check you've got it plugged into the single micro USB by itself which is nearest the keyboard on/off switch when docked. Other than that don't know what else to suggest. Maybe try the ASUS transformer forums in case anyone has had a similar issue? Best of luck

Doing it today on mine while watching the tennis :-)
First I just downloaded the file here and ran it: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/windows-10-upgrade
This worked perfectly, didn't need to install any drivers. It did its stuff and I came back to windows 10. Haven't seen any problems.
However that still leaves the old recovery partition and some gunk - I want a clean install. Can do that by running the windows 10 download tool from USB, on top of an already installed windows 10 (you need to do the upgrade first for licensing though): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/
First I'm going to compare the battery draw and play a bit with it though, see if there's any benefit staying with 8.1
ps if you use the USB full-wipe method I mention above, make sure to register your Office 365 free year first. The link is pre-installed on the machine, it'll be lost otherwise.

If anyone needs, I made a note of the default wifi settings it came with:
40mhz disabled, 802pre auto, ab disabled, antenna auto, assoc1, bandcap 11a 20/40;11bg, bt auto, bssplcp auto short/long, btamp enabled, d2 5, disableonconnect disabled, enable/disableLTR enabled, fragthresh2346, ibss54g auto, ibss mode 802.11b only, locallyadminned not present, ltr active value 60, min power consump enabled, packetcoal enabled, power output 100%, prior&vlan p&v disabled, rate best rate, roam tend auto, roamdec auto, rts thresh 2347, wakeonpatt enabled, wakeonrsn enabled, wakeup mode all, wfdchannel 11, wmm auto, wzc ibss 11(20mhz), xpress disabled
May seem a bit unnecessary :-) But windows tablets have an awful habit of their wifi messing up powersaving, you end up with the tablet not idling properly and losing all its charge overnight. It then becomes a massive pita trying to figure out what the precise problem is, but it works out of the box nicely.

Has anyone found their download speeds being very slow? I'm on 74mb fibre and get that speed yet the Asus seems to top out at 3mb/s when sat right next to the router but only reaches that rarely and sits more at adsl speeds when my other devices are all hitting the limit for my connection.
Updated to the latest wifi driver through windows and hasn't helped.

Notebook check review (worth mentioning it was reviewed at 400 euros)

T100CHI is from ASUS Taichi legacy and it's their most premium series along with Zenbooks.
Amazon just merged all these modes in 1 listing and hence combined the reivews which confuses people.

Also can you run normal windows 10 desktop software on it?
Yes for the second. Though keep in mind the slow processor and limited ram.
Different animal I know, but same beast ..... :-)
but there was a special page on xda developers. they had a special installer and you just pointed it to remixos image file. when I installed it on my d drive ie memory card. i couldn't boot from it. and I don't know enough about grub to edit the bootloader. so I then installed it on my c drive. that allows me to select at boot up. however i uninstalled it as i ran out of space on my c drive for windows and even though i told steam to install games on my d drive, some games didn't run as I think they need to install directx etc on c drive. so i recently wiped remixos as wanted to play a windows game with my son. i did have an 8gb android partition on 32gb c drive. this is 64gb and i could try again with a smaller android partition. i recall playing angry birds the one with cars in it.... and also netflix and scratch jr and maths planet all worked fine.
Thanx in advance. :-)
Hope that helps  apparently the speakers aren't bad, not bass heavy, but they're not back facing I believe
Can't have everything for just over 100 quid xD I agree, cherry trail would be nice, however this processor isn't terrible for something this size, it does beat most tablets, even if it doesn't stand up to most laptops.
But then again most laptops with more powerful processors are well above 134.99, so theres a choice to make

I'm tempted with the 12" model just for the cpu and ram.
MINIMUM:
OS: Windows 7 or Newer (This has 8 upgradeable to 10)
Processor: 2.4 GHz Dual core (this is quad core, good enough)
Memory: 2 GB RAM (this meets that)
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 260 or ATI 4850 (integrated graphics are fine)
DirectX: Version 9.0c (yup)
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 5 GB available space
This easily fills all the minimum reqs, personally RL never uses more than 500MB of RAM but still, it can run it fine yea
The ebay auction states "WiFi 802.11 b/g/n", which should be good enough.
I would like real world confirmation that someone has used this with the xbox app with no lag, preferably with a virgin media superhub 2.
I don't want much do I?
Maybe not worth the buy then.
I just need to get a USB AC network device, or possibly just upgrade laptop (2nd Gen i5, 8gb ram, SSD, but nearly 5 years old with no USB3 or AC).
From courier - 7:33 this morning, delivered about 10:00
Wasn't expecting till mon/tues so really chuffed

I'm not saying Asus are on the whole a bad company, my laptop is Asus and thats atleast 8 years old and I've always been happy with it, I just dont trust their tablets.
edit : i retract that a little - didn't realise this also comes with keyboard - makes the choice of value a little harder - but depends what main use of it is for I guess.
To the second, the keyboard is a UK layout yes
looking forward to this do we think we will be getting chrome os on this with android installer like the asus chromebook flip??
Having put win 10 on it, this actually boots about 10 times faster and is quicker to start and use apps and browser.
Dropbox synced great, Calibre library runs really well. Won't be doing much else with it tbh, might put office on.
Most importantly, mrs is super happy with it.
But apart from that, you should be good
Only use it for holidays, so this machine sounds like a great upgrade.
As for SD, but it from someone like base.com, MyMemory, or again Amazon, then you know you'll get a legit card. I picked up a 64GB for £13 on the MyMemory ebay outlet a while back
Is the spec high enough?

james, that is for the T100, not the CHI100, which is upgraded
Asus recommend 8 hours of charging for each so it's going to be used starting away from it!
The Chi stylus came included now I just need an otg adapter so it will have a makeshift USB port.
Going to try out rocket league when it's charged and upgraded to Windows10.
Thanks for the deal!
Currently on charge - can't wait to use it. Thanks OP, looks a lovely piece of kit and absolute bargain!
Checked online. 10GB is for recovery.
was thinking of getting another, guess I can blame it on Brexit :smirk:

Considering its in the UK (London) I don't think you can :P
we are still charging, tab then keyboard, looks a solid piece of kit, very pleased and to get the stylus included, nice.
Thanks for putting this up.
Not to serious with regards to Brexit, just blaming everything on it just now.
Finally, to power up you need to press and hold the power button
Hope that helps
In terms of battery life, install BatteryBar which shows an estimated 11:35 on a full charge. Currently at 93.3% with an estimated run time of 10:47.
As for the powering on issue I had to leave mine plugged into a wall socket for a while before it would power on.
You can see the difference using batterybar, look at the power draw.
Hope for a swift resolution as it took 8 days to arrive....
How's people finding Windows 10? Worth upgrading? Possible to create a state so can restore back integration future? Or perhaps, have the option of doing a fresh install of Windows 10?

May seem a bit unnecessary :-) But windows tablets have an awful habit of their wifi messing up powersaving, you end up with the tablet not idling properly and losing all its charge overnight. It then becomes a massive pita trying to figure out what the precise problem is, but it works out of the box nicely.
Updated to the latest wifi driver through windows and hasn't helped.
