I think it is about £1.50 for a m3 (cubic meter or 1000L) here in London from thames water.

Seems rather unnecessary. What's wrong with a good old fashions glass of tap water?

Its always that price and its not even sparkling. No deal here.

Works out cheaper and healthier to distill your own water - 50p electricity and (1 gallon in 4 hours)
It takes time but at least you KNOW it is 100% clean, 1000% healthy and safe.

For example VOSS water has 29ppm (particles per million) if measured with TDS meter, which indicates how much "something" there is in a water. Tap water usually has 250-300ppm and most of it content is rust and fluoride.
Cheap bottled water usually is same tap water but went thru powerful ionizers which separates 70% of stuff, but next they will add bicarbonate soda to alkalize the water and few artificial minerals.

Parts per million. "Particles" would be meaningless unless the size of the particles was specified.
Flouride's good for your teeth, iron oxide's good for avoiding anaemia. What's the problem? Why on earth would you bother distilling it?

I buy these fir the bottles now and again as there a nice small size for pack lunch boxes, would not buy for the contents although to be fair it does taste nicer than whtat comes out of my tap.

in America we call it METER and definitely it is not a britex invention. So, surely can also be called meter and it sound much nicer

I know Bobo-everywhere else in the world it is spelled metre as the unit of metric measurement as a french invention! It is still pronounced the same. We use meter only for a device designed to measure something. It always cropped up in our school English exams on spelling where all the science stream missed the wrong spelling of parking metre! Oh and before you say anything my conversion was into proper gallons-not your puny US ones!
