Honestly don't understand the fascination with 4k gaming. Is 1080p not good enough?

I don't understand the facilitation with driving a car. Is a horse not good enough?

Yep, £430 though. Impressively low lag for an IPS. Not a fan of the chunky bezel. I game in surround and sadly 12K isn't financially practical yet from either GPU & monitor perspective. Maybe in 12-18 months.

I got LG MU67, which is a pretty good monitor.

Well you could argue 800*600 on a crt monitor is "good enough" and that Nokia featurephones do most of the things a smartphone does...
Its a question of people having money and wanting to have the best in tech, some people buy a fancy car, some people buy/build a beast of a pc.
Also 4k gaming looks absolutely awesome...

Tempted - although a nice 40" TV is a decent alternative (larger pixels, but more space).
I would ignore all the talk about HDMI. Displayport is the preferred interface for 4k, by far.

on the market for a new monitor and snapped up an Asus mx279h. it's pretty crap apart from the speakers. admittedly it's only 1920 x 1080 and as it's 27" it needs 2560 res. I was going to make a break for 4k but as u soley play online get then this lag puts me off massively. so I'm off back to look for a 27-29" with a native 2560x1440 res screen. h
however if the lag wasn't that important to me I would snap this up

Always thought these monitors were decent for the price, but I ordered one about a month ago from Amazon and the colour reproduction isn't all that great with it being a TN panel - not a problem for day-to-day use but as a graphic designer and video editor it didn't quite meet the mark :/

I've placed a few orders with them and they've always been fine for me.

With twitch based online competitive games for sure but anything else should be fine, most people who game on TVs are used to that kind of lag, but yeah it more for general use.

It's such a shame that you have to completely tie yourself down to either amd or nvidia now.

Gaming on this monitor - Oh it's a gaming monitor and you can't game on it at 4K because the input lag is useless.

Yep, if it weren't for the input lag I'd have been tempted. Other options like the Asus PB287Q and Samsung U28D590D are better in terms of lag, but cost £100 more and are criticised in other areas. They also don't have HDMI 2 so you would need to use DP to get more than 30Hz. Still waiting for the right monitor to appear on the market!

Yeah seems surprisingly high but then again looking at all those charts if you go with 4K that seems to be par for the course as most of these monitors, so if online multiplayer games are your thing then 4K's not quite there but anything else should be fine.
The reason why posted this is that similar spec'd 4K monitors easily cost £100 or more on average to begin with and don't even support HDMI 2.0 so they're limited to 30Hz over HDMI.

I did Flubit on this at Amazon earlier this week and got it for £255 delivered. Worth a try

Good price, but the input lag is huge at 87ms! I had a Dell which was 60ms and it was returned very quickly; it was distracting immediately from desktop and video use, let alone gaming. Some are not as susceptible to input lag as others, so it want affect all, though I suspect the majority of gamers would notice 87ms.
IMO manufacturers should be quoting lag in specs as I believe it's more important than response time. At 60Hz your 5 frames behind!
