Great sounding little speaker. I've got one permanently powered with a chromecast audio plugged in via 3.5mm jack and it works great.
I fact I've actually got 2 in different rooms (living room/kitchen-diner), both set up with Chromecast audio's added into a group. Hit play on phone and get perfectly synced audio in both rooms, effectively a similar setup to what a Sonus would give me.

Is the A3134 worth the extra cash?

I bought one of these at £24.99 but having used it I would pay double. It's fantastic. The bluetooth range never fails, it connects with a chirpy beep and the sound quality and battery life are both incredible.
A massive humdinger of a ringing endorsement from me, with massive bells on!
Buy it!

I bought one of these a few months back and it is superb. Very loud, excellent bass, much, much better than other speakers twice the price. An absolute bargain

Never owned or used a wireless speaker but this is out of my price range. Any suggestions for a budget one just to play about with & test out?
Its not been dispatched yet, but very good price and reviews.

Do you mean the A3143?
If so, its a tough call. Have both. The A3143 has a lot better bass and a more rich/deep, wholesome sound, and can go really loud and powerful. But then at the lowest volume levels there can be some mild distortion (which I've found just listening as background noise doing work at home), plus the battery life isn't nearly as good (about 5/6 hrs).
The Soundcore doesn't have the same power or bass to it, but a fantastic battery and still does sound very good for that size of a speaker.
It depends on what you're after, but the Soundcore slightly edges the win over the A3143 in my opinion.

6w is not very powerful? always thought more W was louder and better sound?
Very very tempted by this. Any help with how it compares to the AZATOM Storm? In terms of volume and sound clarity.

A copy of the review I left on the Amazon website:
In conclusion, if I didn't get it for free I would've bought it. Battery life is still great (though never tested the 24 hours) only problem I had was it wouldn't sync to my iPhone the other day whilst driving back home (was using it as a car stereo replacement as frankly I don't want to listen to Heart FM or Radio One). Not tested it since, but considering the car had 4 iDevices present and my 'sleeping' Macbook in the boot I'm guessing something got the bluetooth locked on first.

Not bad at all. Will it hold a candle to my Bose Soundlink? Might give this a shot, even just to leave at work.

I love this speaker. Bought it at £25 after sending the more expensive A3143 back. The sound core has much more clarity and enough bass for me. The A3143 had very little mid and treble. Fee more comfortable taking the sound core away with me too.

That's not so much a problem with the device though is it. Although some now allow a second device to connect for this very reason but a limitation with Bluetooth. My day is getting a bit forgetful and with the range of things always ends up spending 20 mins looking for the device he left Bluetooth on before he can play his music.
He uses it as a kitchen speaker last weekend was his ipad left in the car boot. Chromecast is a better technical solution but these have their place.
This is what I was thinking of going for upstairs. I have Sony speakers downstairs hooked up to two Audiocasts. Recently stumbled upon Anker and just looking at the different models. I like the look of the classic Bluetooth speaker as well.

Got one of these. About a year old. Paid roughly the same.
Anker is a great brand. Their leads and speakers are very well made. Battery on this is epic. It just never runs out.
Sound quality is good to very good. Place next to a Bose Bluetooth speaker you can tell the difference (but obvious price difference). Would recommend.

I got one of these a few months ago and I have to say I was very underwhelmed.
I haven't had much experience with other similar Bluetooth speakers so I cannot say so and so is better. However, in my opinion it lacks bass and a bit of volume. I would classify it as a good enough kitchen speaker for some background music, but it isn't something you would use to enjoy just listening to some music.
A good thing about it is because it lacks bass they are good for the kids so you don't get disturbed too much even if they play it loud.
battery life was good about 10 hours I found.

whoops I thought it was the a7909 so the sound core is likely worse than what I thought about that one

So the total opposite of all reviews on here and Amazon?!
I don't think anyone would be buying a 25 quid battery speaker as their main source of music. It's battery so it's portable so it's for camping, holidays, work, hotels, kids etc etc, not an audiophile.

I was giving some perspective on what to actually expect from something like this. The problem on Amazon is many reviews rave about how amazing they are and not just this one but most Bluetooth speakers in general. It is nigh on impossible to tell which is better as very few have much to compare to.
I got the A7909 for £25 and in my opinion it could be better even for that amount of money. I wondered if I should have gone for the A3143 instead but as mentioned earlier there seems to be a noise issue at lower volumes.
based on the hype I was hoping for more, not hifi, but not something significantly worse than cheap pc speakers from 20 years ago.

Would be good if you got a case, there's a comparable on one amazon "KitSound BoomBar Universal Portable Rechargeable Stereo Bluetooth Sound System" for £20 with a case.

The A3143 in addition to low volume distortion is far too skewed towards bass. For someone who worked in broadcasting and pro audio it was an instant return on both counts, the less discerning might not be too bothered.
The Soundcore is excellent for the price, very little hiss and good clarity for the size, it's fine for what I would call companion listening. The battery life is insane, it keeps going and going like it's nuclear powered. I think I've only charged it once in a couple of months and it gets used most days.

Mainly Google play music, but sometimes listen to podcasts using beyondPod (although podcasts are now available through google play...)
Once a group is set up in the Chromecast app you can choose to stream to group or to individual Chromecast audios.

Depends what you were going to plug into the bookshelf speakers as the music source.
With a BT speaker such as this you get the benefit of portability and wireless streaming with the option of a 3.5mm input if you need it. You don't get stereo separation you would get with a set of speakers, but this is certainly powerful enough with sound quality and volume good enough for a small/medium room - unless you're an audiophile.
I initially went for a slightly cheaper BT speaker, but bought this when it was reduced last time. This was far better, better than the +£10 difference between the two suggested. Playing them side by side was very noticeable, so I gave the cheaper one away and bought another of these. Problem with audio equipment is you can always pay £10 more and get slightly better, but for the price I can't knock this for quality, convenience and battery life.
I must admit I'm a great fan of Anker kit and generally choose to pay a little more for it. From cables to speakers I've never had anything which wasn't excellent from well thought out recyclable packaging to the product. Support is good too (I had a wireless keyboard which every now and then missed a key - they sent me a replacement, no quibble and without me sending the other back).

That's great thanks for the tips. Music sources would be laptop, podcasts and streams from phones, TV connection from the other room (to still listen whilst in the kitchen etc, and possibly a record player. The added portability of it makes it seem like a better idea (especially as I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks).
