A six pound waterbed. Tell you what, try it, and let us all know how you get on. What's the worst that can happen?

If anyone is after a decent airbed, one that lasts years of camping, get a tarpaulin one. Aerobed used to do one called "Extreme" but they stopped doing it as, well, people prefer to pay £5 for one then wonder why it goes flat after 3 hours. :smirk:
However in the USA there's a make called "Rokk" that do one (well did a year or so ago) cost me about $120 I think with shipping, but worth every, err, cent.

Agreed for these cheaper ones. However there are times when only an airbed is practical and I have an "Aerobed Extreme" which is really strong and has been going for years - you get what you pay for with these.

Can you make them into waterbed by filling with water instead air? Water being heavier than air will make them heavy but more comfortable.

Thanks OP ordered a single as well as the folding chair, have a similar one already and it stays inflated just fine also the reviews for the single looked good.

Stopper has now been replaced with a screw in plug so the problem with the need to re inflate every few days may have been solved.

Could these replace an ordinary mattress ?

They are intended for use in place of an ordinary mattress when one isn't available for whatever reason. Camping, overnight stop at a friends house if short on beds etc.
Wouldn't consider using one permanently; if that's what you're asking.

No, these things are crap and only hold the air for a day or so before needing topping up.
After 4 weeks constant use you'll be very lucky if they are not in the bin because they split.

A. Ensure airbed is properly inflated
B. If airbed is NOT properly inflated ensure you do not share airbed with a chunky person who 'fidgets'.
