I know this may be a bit niche, but it may be interesting for fellow bikers out there:
Amazon Germany are currently selling the Abus Granit 68 Victory Disc Lock and Chain combination at an extremely low price. Lock and chain are both of excellent quality (google for reviews) and should keep anyone but the most determined thieves away. The set usually sells for twice that price here in the UK.
Only thing to keep in mind: it needs a 14mm hole in the brake disc to fit through
edit: Annoyingly they've raised the price by £12 now (was £60 when I posted it initially)... I'd say it's still worth it if you're after a chain/disc lock combination.

Granite links will break easily, better with a hardened steel lock

Granit is only their marketing name. Both chain and lock are made from hardened steel (10mm thickness for the chain, 14mm thickness for the brake disc bolt).

This is 12mm so easily cropped and only 1.2m long which isn't much to when you come to chain it to something.
Anything under 16mm can be cropped quickly and quietly with hand bolt croppers.
16mm and above you looking at powertools being the only way the chain is getting cut/broken.
Spend a bit more and get a Almax or Pragmasis at 1.5m or 2m long

Your title was somehow incorrect when I saw it 2 hours after you posted it because your title stated €80 odd euros plus €8 postage but £60 , the two did not equate hence it being changed to £72.73 which was Amazons conversion price at the time.

You haven't grasped the whole 'buy items that are fit for purpose' concept; an inflatable dingy in theory does a same job as an Ocean going liner on one level, but on many others there are a few differences...

What would be the advantage of this over the Kryptonite New York noose? They have the same noose design, Kryptonite is available in two lengths but in my opinion the shackle lock that comes with the Kryptonite is far more useful as it can be attached to the chassis rather than through the disc which can be (relatively) easily removed.

Depends on your bike and use. If you have a frame that will fit through the cryptonite lock (e.g. tubular steel) then I'd say that's more secure since someone can't drop the brake disk to get rid of the lock (although that's appearantly still a pain if it's the back wheel). The only pro with the abus on such a bike is that you can use the disk lock on its own when there's nothing to chain the bike to (although the kryptonite might also fit through some break discs).
