Lidl's Triton are usually £6 for a pack of 8 but a few days ago they were reduced to £4. Good for 1000 recharges apparently with 2300mAh capacity

I've been using this one for the past few years ...
I was recommended this one a few years back and it's been very good so far. It just doesn't like very discharged batteries so you may have to 'jump start' them and then it will recognise them.
Got the AAA last time and worked fine
Then tried charging but will not charge at all, some others have had the same issue.
Lots of others have had no problem with them so looks like 'some good some bad' good luck.

Good price and decent batteries, I paid £16 back in November. They are mainly used for my Xbox one controller, where I get about six hours use out of them.
I'd recommend an intelligent charger, similar to what dooper linked to. I've destroyed literally hundreds of rechargeable batteries with 'fast but dumb' chargers, now I have a decent charger they do last many more recharge cycles.
Edit: Interestingly, I've just had a look to see whether six hours is good or bad, and found this on the MS website;
Ah well...

Jump start them how out of interest?

Be careful what e-mail address you're entering when creating account with 7day shop.
Luckily for me I have habit creating aliases and not giving my real address. Alias is always easy to delete when compromised and used to send spam to.
Currently half of rejection log on my e-mail server is bounces of emails sent to [email protected] (where instead of mydomain is my real domain). HALF. Which means tens of dodgy e-maisl a day. Hundreds a week, thousands a month.
You have been warned
Using a non intelligent charger, a basic cheap one. Many intelligent chargers incorrectly detect a dud cell if batteries are badly discharged.

I just sit a good battery and the discharged one on a paperclip and then another paper clip across the positive terminals for about 10 seconds. Tends to do the trick.

Wouldn't mean they're less intelligent than they appear?

Any deals on rechargeable D sized batteries? The baby's swinging seat seems to be devouring a set of 4 every week.

Have you tried using the plastic adapters for AA to D?
Will need to recharge AA's more frequently of course...

Not necessarily a deal, but some high capacity D's here. http://www.vapextech.co.uk/batteries/standard-rechargables/pp3-c-and-d/

Not 100% sure on that. It seems that AA technology is where it's at. The AA batteries seem to be outdoing the equivalent C and D cells on mAh despite the smaller size. Therefore I agree use adapters and go with AA batteries all the way. Soon the manufacturers might appreciate this and just go with AA batteries all the way.

umm..... not sure this makes any sense, My 4000mah 7dayshop C cells would seem to contradict your theory here
some brands like duracell put a AA battery inside a shell and sell them as C cells, but you can get much higher mah, generally speaking the bigger the battery the more juice it can store

Are they really 4000mAh though? Had loads of batteries that don't quite do what they say on the tin.

Not quite, around 3800mah really, it does depend how you break them in etc
