Cheapest price I've seen so far for 5kg of BBQ charcoal. £2.99 was the lowest I had seen before these at Home Bargains. Found at LIDL Beckton.

got these yesterday and thought it was a good deal! they had some 5kg bags in clearance at tesco which were open / incomplete and they were selling for more than this

prefer briquettes to lumpwood as find it easier to manage temprature and lengthy cooks , and these arn't that bad as long as you cook on them when they are ready ( chimney being Ideal I find )
lumpwood however is easier for quickness

With the "free" it is worth that price, but not a deal, the quality is pretty poor, won't last long at all, cheap for a reason.

Cheap briquettes are cheap. Worth paying a bit more.
I use both lumpwood and briquettes and mix them up depending on need. Lumpwood isn't much use for a 6 hour low and slow belly pork cook, but just fine for a few steaks.
