You were correct the first time, both my local Farmfoods have only ever sold 2L (3.5 pint) bottles, I've never seen a 4 pint bottle there. Also, if you enlarge the image top right of this page it shows 2L bottles, not 4 pint.
If Badbear has found 4 pint bottles at Langley Mill it must be a local deal.

The price at Farmfoods makes no difference to farmers. Farmers do not sell milk directly to shops, they sell it to a milk processor.
Supermarkets, like Farmfoods, then buy their milk from the milk processor.
We don't know how much Farmfoods pay for their milk or how much profit, if any, they make on it, I suspect they make nothing or very little, its a loss leader.
That said, I do agree that we should be paying more for milk to keep farmers in business, because once a dairy farm is gone, its gone for good - no banker will ever stump up the cash to create a new dairy farm, there's not enough profit in it.

Don't worry, it's almost certainly a loss leader.
This can be shown using the latest average milk price meaning a farmer gets paid about 90p for 4 litres of milk. Then there's other costs like distribution, storage, processor profit etc so Farmfoods will either break even or more likely lose money on the milk in the hope that people will buy other bits and bobs when they come in for it.

It was a 'Stock Picture' .. the Red Top Milks of this ilk were also part of the 2 for £1 while I was there, lol.

the milk and sugar prices are sold at loss, as door stoppers, means you stop at door , see the price for milk sugar and meats, then go in and pay double for luxury items. but remember most stores, times there cost by 3.5 and then add vat if , if vat has to be paid on item. major bulk buying like a billion litres of milk, makes it very cheap. so that saving can be passed to customer, even the farmers give discount for selling a billion litres, you would rather sell billion litres of milk for very little profit, then sell a 1000 litres at high profit, the farmers have nothing to complain about, just pure greed, they still live luxury lives, better then me or you , the end customer, just think the average farmfoods customers is lucky to take home 200 pounds a week.

you also have to remember farmfoods has cut advertising budget , that cost them billions a year, and cut it costs, that cost thousands a month in web hosting, they have cut these budgets, so they can offer the customer a better deal, word of mouth and free advertising, is better and worth more then a billion pound a year advertising budget. notice the leaflet through door and the leaflets, head office send out to customers, have halved in size. that's if you got leaflet this month, i did not. oh also, the veg packets is 750g now , not a kilo like use to be, have to look weights, when shopping anywhere now. not the price.

you have to remember farmfoods, is normally in middle of council estates and back streets, to asda and tesco , in prime locations, so rents are a lot lower. asda and tesco in my area, are in busy main roads.normally intersections too, so very high rents.

You also forget, Asda is NOW part of the Walmart conglomarte! (the BIGGEST Supermarket Chain in the World!), and Tesco is HARDLY a poor Supermarket either is it? (a multi £Billion Pound Industry paying 10's of £Millions a year on fancy Accountants to Tax-Exile them all over the place in order to save themselves 100's of £Millions a year!, and ..... )
So in a nutnell, BOTH of your above mentioned have more than their fullest share of liquid £ to afford to be able to literally stick their Stores into quite literally any 'prime spot' (or as the American's would say Real Estate) that they feel/want too?, so .....
FarmFoods on the other hand (lovable as they are), may not on the otherhand have much/such of the same arms & legs resources as that of the other two to necessarily be able to parade with such endless lavish extravagencies as the above big two do, no?.
Or at least, perhaps not for now anyway ..... lol.

asda has been part walmart very long time, i was shocked to hear they bought asda, i was in america at time, and always shop walmart. got to be 1999 walmart bought asda, and walmart are in all sorts of legal trouble, with illegal workers in america.
walmart also paid 10 dollars a hour back in 2000, so hate to think , what they pay now, but there prices make up for it, one shop today, saved me 7 pounds on asda prices.
thats what i am talking about, farmfoods can offer low prices, walmart has many share holders, in no idea how many different countries, and walmart prices, all ways has been high,

My son in law gets 17p per litre for quotored milk, if he goes over quota they pay whatever they feel like, at the moment it's 5p per litre, if he goes under quota by too much they reduce the rate, if the quality drops they reduce the rate.....if he quality increases, still 17p. The owner of the processing company actually brags about how much profit he makes. And no my son in law cannot change companies. He will just get rid of the herd when the market for cows gets better.

Don't generalise, my son in law has a flock of sheep to subsidise his herd in the vain hope (IMO) that milk prices will rise. He is in no way a well off farmer, subsistence maybe.
