I used to buy my daughter cheap school shoes and they would last a couple of months but lately been buying clarks and she finds it almost impossible to wear these out. Would recommend clarks childrens shoes. Worth the extra money

I do not think anybody suggested tescos (sic "Tesco's") shoes were made in england (sic "England").

To be honest my comment was flippant but does come with experience of buying Clarke shoes which I have to say are poor quality. My girls only where DM shoes for school (as other pairs for leisure) and quality is outstanding and amazing customer service. (Never bought Tesco shoes or clothes so shouldn't have commented on their quality).

Clark's quality has gone downhill and their customer service is terrible! I had a pair of boots, that had hardly been worn for 6months, fall apart due to poor workmanship (the lining just perished in the heels). They offered me 50% of my money back because I had had them 6 months, without any consideration of the obviously little wear they had had (clear from the outer leather and sole). They wouldn't budge even with discussions with head office - they said I would have to post them in at my own expense for "examination'. They lady behind the counter said "she had no power" to make a decision. They lost my custom for ever more for the sake of 30 odd quid. Start-rite are far better quality and even better are Geox - the quality is amazing and my boys pair look brand new after 6 months of heavy wear! Well worth the extra money, but you can sometimes get them on sale. If you really must buy Clarks, I would only buy them via John Lewis as their customer service is amazing.

You're having a laugh aren't you - the supermarket shoes are a waste of money - my son's mother buys my son school shoes cheap and the "leather" is scuffed off after one day. I got sick of seeing my son in scuffed shoes so buy him clarkes or marks and spencer. Last the entire year at school. He was going through three pairs a term on supermarket shoes!

I got concerned when all the shoes were being made in India and Vietnam but the day i saw them switch to imitation stitching where its rubber instead of real stitching tipped me over the edge.

Clark's aren't as good as they used to be. In my experience m & s shoes last longest. Clark's around 3-6 months. m & s, 9-12 months

Need to pay £10-£20 more RRP for same quality as they were a few years' ago. That's because we run a bit inefficient at the UK end, may be better to fire all the English managers and replace them with Germans.

I disagree with this statement but fact is Clarks' quality deteriorated terribly, too. They wear out much quicker than they used to and also you can find stitching faults which can make child's feet hurt or uncomfortable. .If they have a quality department they all needs to get re-trained!
Can't see any kids school shoes in the sale items. Although, I didn't expect too..

I bought a pair of Clarks boots, the leather came apart from the sole in multiple places. Can't believe it as it's a boot so should be hard wearing. Clarks gone downhill.

Geox shoes are by far the best for my boy. He destroyed a tesco pair in a week and a clarks pair in 3 weeks, Crocs shoes lasted a little longer (3 months) but he actually out grows Geox. Geox shoe are priced the same as Clarks but you can get some good deals in the sales. I managed to get some for £12.50 a pair from John Lewis in their sale about 6 months ago.

Glue comes off and soles fall apart with many Clarks shoes. They do give a minor £10 voucher if you kick up a fuss. Many Clarks shoes are made in India. They are not British shoes! But, they still last longer than Brantano, Matalan and Tesco for my children! I cannot justify £60 for a pair. Even £30 seems steep. Check out the prices on the Indian websites!

Recently got a pair of shoes from Clarks on sale, full price was around £80. Soles were halfway gone after 10 days of walking on holiday. Similar Merrells and Sketchers I've got are absolutely fine after 3 years..
Maybe just an unlucky pair but I'll avoid Clarks from now.

Totally AGREE. I never thought this was true until I actually purchased Clarks instead of the cheap one from supermarket.
They last so much longer..
I goto the Clarks Outlet in Livingston, Scotland.. they are a lot cheaper than the Clarks stores you visit, they are simply last years stock, as in fashion. get them cheaper via the outlet.. Recommend anyone in Scotland with Kids to visit..
