Head ache pills.
Off hand cannot remember which news paper he used to write for , was it the Independent ?
Anyways he used to swear in his articles and they were not starred out which made people look and other than that they were totally incomprehensible. His command of English should be used as an example for students how not write an essay .
Or people made to read his stuff as a torture or punishment !
It does not surprise me one of his books ended up in the Pound shop and it would be worth that if you wanted kindle to start a fire !

It's a tough read (the whole thing has no paragraph breaks) but it's brilliant. Easily worth a quid :smiley:

Heat added to the OP - I managed to bag a copy at Talbot Green earlier on the off-chance that there were any in stock (there were a few).
I've got a few of Self's books - some of them I love (Book of Dave - this should be a text for A-Level RE or degree-level theology!), some of them I've just never had the time to get stuck into them and remain unfinished. I look forward to seeing which way this one goes for me!
Before anyone splashes-out a nugget without having read any of his stuff before, I suggest that they read a few of his 'Real Meals' columns that he writes for the New Statesman to see whether or not he is your cup of tea....

He used to make me laugh on shooting stars.
Very dry wit and some of his novels are fantastically bizarre, look a few up on Wikipedia!

Surprised to see it at poundland I'd be interested to know how they buy/choose their books as this seems unlikely poundland fodder.

This guy makes me PMSL. He has a very dry and laconic wit.
He is often on 'A point of View' on Radio 4.
