Deal from freedomcontracts, couldnt find a better deal on a golf lease, and this seems a lot cheaper than comparable alternatives (Seat leon, Skoda Octavia, etc)
Perfect for those with ultra low mileage (I commute 15 miles a day)

The upfront cost on these lease deals always kill it for me....if I had 2 1/2 grand to spare i probably wouldn't need to lease!

Decent deal for a golf! I like the monthlies but not the initial sadly! Also 8k miles would be better than 5k. Nice find though.

Looks good this. Although I'm always curious about lease deals what happens if your vehicle gets scratches and chips over the 2 year period when you hand it back?
jordan210 to tom6195
5 May 162#4
Same as a PCP hand back. You have guid lines for fair wear and tear
this gives a rough idea. but will change depending on manufacture/lease company
Freedom are members of the BVRLA and must subscribe to their guidelines as to "fair wear and tear" - bumper scrapes, small scratches etc are fine, windscreen chips that would fail an MOT and scratches more than 20mm (I think) are not

Including extra fees this works out at about £200 per month. Don't forget to include gap insurance too. £4.5k to drive a golf for 2 years?
jimbob2010 to pricebustme
5 May 162#8
What would you recommend as an alternative in the same price range?
androoski to pricebustme
5 May 16#9
A new car buyer might well put down £4.5K or so as a deposit, and the car would burn far more than that in two years of depreciation, so this makes a good economic alternative.
Another way to look at it is £200 per month for a car that allows 400 miles on average per month of use. 50p per mile excluding fuel cost.

Do you need to be employed to get a lease deal? Only ask as I have enough cash to cover the full cost a few times over but think I might get rejected if I don't have a job.

You may fail a credit test.

They ask for household income, employers address and length of service etc and they do a credit check, so I assume so.

Excess mileage charge will only be circa 6p a mile so doesn't matter if you go a few k over, it won't add much to the final bill at the end.

I drive this car on pcp - fantastic car. By means of a comparison, I get 8000 miles/year for £160/month and I put down a £2000 deposit. That's over 4 years.

Be careful as 5000 miles a year is not much. i do that in a little over 3 months just in commuting. If I was only doing 5k PA not sure I'd care about having a reasonable care either but that's just personal preference...

Don't drive personally but OH does 75 miles a day just to get to/from work, forgetting leisure travel, so 5k p/a is ridiculous. Possibly OK for someone that lives in a city.

This is the standard price in the market today, there is nothing special here. For just about the same monthlies you can get a significantly better car.
In terms of mileage its configurable, different manufacturers charge different amounts.
Yes, but they don't have anything that I can see as good a car for the price.
Their 1L polo (no sat nav etc) is nearly a s much as this deal once you add arrangement fee.

for an extra £4/month (or c£100 over the 2 years) they also have the 110 TDI in Match Edition.

Nearly £200 a month for a £20k car does not appear like amazing value when you can spend 250-300 a month and get a £35k+ car. Depends what you are after I guess.

Cold, 5000 miles is of a oap going to the shop to collect the daily paper 5 days a week. God help them if they want a paper 7 days a week, with the excess milage hitting their pensions :sunglasses:

6 May 162#44
I will admit that I am worried I will be bored sitting there having my bottom warmed by the heated seats, listening to bluetooth-streamed music on an 8 speaker system, not even having to think about which way I am going thanks to the sat nav, while the adaptive cruise control matches the speed of the car in front. The front and rear parking sensors will wake me up if I get too close to anything so no worries really.
Find a comparable car with the same features that cost less than 20% of the RRP for 2 year ownership, like this one, or vote hot.

The title has the total in it... there are no lease deals without a deposit

6 May 162#45
Could we develop a std for car lease deals whereby the total cost(deposit, fees, monthly costs etc)/no of months of lease is quoted in the title? ie true net cost per month
eg. in this case it's £186
Just makes it easier to make comparisons. Big difference between £186 and £79
End of my two penneth. Have a good weekend everyone!

6 May 16#46
Surely the total price over the term is more useful? That is quoted in this case too. Quoting the true net cost per month isn't as useful as that's not what you'll be paying each month!.
poolman to dvdphile
7 May 16#47
Agreed BUT for comparison purposes, on the title, it makes it much easier to compare deals. If I have a net £100 per month available to spend, then I can ignore this and move on. At £79 I get all excited.....and then not! Obviously, I can spend 30 secs doing the calculation...but I'm far too lazy to contemplate that!

No, it forms part of the total cost over 2 years (£4471)
WalterWhiteee
7 May 16#51
Usually there will be a limit for how much of it is "wear and tear" but if it has loads of scratches the garage will charge you to fix it but probably better to get it done before handing it back at a local paint shop.

Can anyone recommend a good website for finding car leasing deals please?
All the ones I look on seem to focus on showing you falsely low headline figures which, on closer examination, require massive deposits (circa £2k) for short deals. Lower deposit deals are available but initially presenting them like this makes comparison difficult...

10 May 16#54
The total cost over 2 years is what I use to compare. For a "deal" comparison I took the % of the total cost vs RRP
