Same here, bought one to replace my galaxy note 2. Was unsure about it but thought at 99 quid lets give it a go, could always keep it as a spare if the reality didnt live up to the reviews. 1 week in and got to say it matches my old phone well. Fast and responsive and Im now enjoying the benefits of 4g. That was the only reason i wanted to move on from my note 2.
Screen, excellent, battery life is good, all in all for under 100 quid you really cant go wrong.

I've had this for a while now - since last august I think - I am on month 7 or 8 as I had my first cashback claim last month with the smartphone company.
It's a very good phone, but has started to play up recently with the two problems below.
1. When I am on the browser, the back button seems to phantomly be activated several times by itself which is really annoying - it makes browsing impossible sometimes. It's intermittent but does it quite often.
2. A couple of areas of the screen are very unresponsive - the 'c' key on the keyboard doesn't work most of the time (well, that area) which means that it comes up with x, or v and I have to auto correct for me to get the right word. There is maybe on or two other areas that are showing similar signs, but aren't as bad.
I might have try and send it back for repair, but that is just an almighty pain in the a$re. It is a very good phone, and I though I might not get used to the size, but my old iphone 4s seems tiny now!
Have any other owners come across these problems?
EDIT - saying that, I did have one of those gorilla glass screen protectors on, which I took off recently as it was cracked, and that does seem to have made it better, in that out of 10 presses of the 'c' key , 7 register, one comes up as v and two didn't register.
I think the glass having a crack in it may have caused the screen to not register the touch possibly. all the other keys (when held vertically) work ok, it's just the 'c' key that is a bit unresponsive. Maybe it's the glass screen protector that caused the issue....!

It is a great phone at a great price. But: 6 months ago it was without any doubt a better deal. Now the world has moved on, and this phone will never see Android Marshmallow. It is still the best phone you can get at this price, but I hope we will see an update (from Vodafone or a competitor) soon.

11 May 161#42
I had one of those 'premium quality tempered glass' ones. It worked fine, but the screen definitely has a small issue around the 'c' key and is less sensitive which was amplified by the glass. When the glass was on, it was really unresponsive just on the 'c' key. No matter how much I pressed it, it just gave me a v or an x. Now I've took the protector off, it's a lot better, but still only works 70-80% of the time, just on that small area. This only started about a month ago, after about 6 months of owning it.

The only thing about this smartphone phone is it's sheer size. For many people its just not practical. I used it for a out 2 weeks. It is huge! You do get used to the screen size but it's not easy to use or very practical to sit in a pocket etc.
I also disliked the lack of led notification.
But those were my only quibbles. Good budget smartphone for the price.
Does anyone know anything about what this year's budget device will be? How does it usually work on terms of retailers selecting which manufacturer to go for? Etc

There's a thread I've just found here that details these issues that might help - I'm going to try these when I get round to it.
My phone worked well last night, but then this morning it was bobbins again. I turned it on and off and it seemed to be a bit better. Maybe it is something to do with the available RAM, although I don't get how that would affect the touch sensitivity of one area of the screen! The back button - maybe there's some weird thing going on in the software or maybe there's a browser virus or something - who knows?! To be honest - even though I turned it on and off, I still have 94 open apps on it!!!! Android OS does have some possibly undesired traits like this.
well, after the RAZR I this is luxury. As somebody above posted this is a pretty good phone for the money. But it has been out for a while and next new best thing will be out soon.
I'm happy with the led. It flashes when it wants me to look at something ( configurable what) and solid while charging.
not sure I need a red led for charging, green one for charged, an orange one for emails and a blue one for texts. I just click the power button and see the notification on the lock screen ( configurable, ).
It's still a good phone for £99. If it breaks I'll get something newer and betterer-er!

12 May 162#95
Ive had it 7 months. I wrote 2 longer posts earlier with all the details and then lost them when the phone just went 'back' about 5 times by itself. Its been doing my nut! Its been alright most of the day, until around 5 and then its been rubbish most of the evenjng, but now, the back button is working ok again!
Maybe a factory reset will do it, but ive already deleted a load of the vodafone apps off it. I need to back it up first, and really can't be bothered! But if i dont, i will probably go insane as ive already got a load of other stress to deal with at the mo!
I will update with detail of how it goes though in case it ever becomes useful to anyone else. Idid the hold the power button for 10 seconds and now the time says 1.34 instead of 22.46.
Life was so much easier when we didnt have all this technology. No stress, or worrying about where you phone was, or dropping, breaking it, kids runing off with it, constantly on it and getting neck ache and arm ache.
Life was better without the internet, mobiles and the like - even if you did have to wait 10 minutes for a computer game to load off a tape and never be able to save it. You werent bothered if you missed a phone call, cos you werent in. That was just the norm! You didn't get mithered for not texting, or phoning someone back etc... bah flipping humbug ihate phones..... especially when the flipping screen doesnt work!
See - uts drving me insane already!

This is weird - its got to be a software thing.
Now, w, s and z on the keyboard in vertical mode dont work. The back button is ok again after not working for ages, but also, the ?123 button to toggle between text and numbers WORKS and its exactly where the contacts button is! And now a minute ago, the contacts button wasn't working when the ?123 was, and now it is!
Some cyberpunk is probably watching me through the camera with his mates and having a right laugh about it. :disappointed:

Awww so feel for you your right smart phones Ans technology can be so annoying and it's as you say it's worse when into of all life's other stresses.
I'm assuming you've tried googling to see if someone has a similar issue?
Sounds bizarre, I'd have assumed it was to do with the touch screen but if some things are working and use the same area of the screen. Could it be that when u press fox example contactsbit craashess and automatically takes u "back" them i guess that would be a software issue.
But I'm not that tech ... :$

I don't care if I miss a call. I don't care about texts. I don't Facebook, I don't Tweet, I'm not linkedIn and I don't have youTube vids of funny dog faces.
I am not a slave to this socalmedia 'if someone doesn't answer in 2 minutes they have fallen out with me', 'oh look how cool I am being followed by 10000 friends' society.
No communication is that important you need to read a text while driving, pull over to answer a call, or interrupt a real conversation with another human to answer a call.
I reply to the odd email when I have some free time, maybe even call people back if they left me a nice message. Oh, and my friends are the ones I go to the pub with and have a pint and a natter, the ones I'd take a bullet for, you know TRUE friends.
No stress, no dramas, no worries. Now back to my off grid spoon whittling.

Picked up the last one in my local Argos shop this morning. 100 squid + had to buy a £10 top-up voucher. Replacing a 5 year old Sony Xperia S that gave up the ghost earlier this week.
What can I do with the £10 voucher? I'm already on a vodafone sim only tariff, can I add it as credit?

How does it compare so far with the Sony Xperia s?
dorsia
13 May 16#111
I think it's superb. Feels like a huge step up having the octo core processor, larger screen and more app storage. The Xperia S being a single core was pretty old tech even when I got it. The reviews of the Ultra 6 having sub par camera and speakerphone don't apply to me as it's all relative to what you're coming from. I haven't tested its phone capabilities as it uses a micro sim card which I'm still waiting for, but so far it's a great all rounder.

I think mine got the new screen around July last year and it's been fine ever since - I should have really sent it back as soon as I started having the problem, but I've been happy with mine since it got repaired. It's still the best value phone I've had - after cashback it's like 8.33 per month for free phone, loads of data, text and calls on talkmobile. I think I have/would struggle to find a phone that's as good for the monthly price since.
Also, I've had no problems at all with the screen since it's been repaired.

Maybe it's the glass screen protector that caused the issue....!
which one is better. i want to buy for mum. thanks
The only issue for me is that Google app is very laggy compared to every other app (and much slower than Google Now on my less powerful Gen 1 Moto E) - "OK Google" doesn't seem to work well either. Any ideas?
I also disliked the lack of led notification.
But those were my only quibbles. Good budget smartphone for the price.
Does anyone know anything about what this year's budget device will be? How does it usually work on terms of retailers selecting which manufacturer to go for? Etc
I tried that yesterday (on a different deal which also requires the topup) and was prompt to go to the till. The lady at Argos 'kindly' told me to purchase the £10 topup citing it is the way it is...
Great value and looks and performance of a phone 3 times the price.
If you want a large handset and love a bargain this phone is for you.
The rest of your comment is accurate
My phone worked well last night, but then this morning it was bobbins again. I turned it on and off and it seemed to be a bit better. Maybe it is something to do with the available RAM, although I don't get how that would affect the touch sensitivity of one area of the screen! The back button - maybe there's some weird thing going on in the software or maybe there's a browser virus or something - who knows?! To be honest - even though I turned it on and off, I still have 94 open apps on it!!!! Android OS does have some possibly undesired traits like this.

Same. Knew I should have just bought it yesterday.
It's still in stock at my local store but was hoping to combine this with the cashback offer. Most likely why it's been taken offline!!

I couldnt make a call before because i couldnt tap on the call button because that bottom left hand corner area wasnt responsive and still isnt.
Its definitely going to have to go back - not sure who to though. I got it from smartphone company in a talkmobile contract, so whos my warranty with?!
on the other hand i feel your inconvenience. how long have you had the phone?
I'm assuming you've tried googling to see if someone has a similar issue?
Sounds bizarre, I'd have assumed it was to do with the touch screen but if some things are working and use the same area of the screen. Could it be that when u press fox example contactsbit craashess and automatically takes u "back" them i guess that would be a software issue.
But I'm not that tech ... :$

What can I do with the £10 voucher? I'm already on a vodafone sim only tariff, can I add it as credit?

Get a case that encloses the phone if you get one!
Also, I've had no problems at all with the screen since it's been repaired.
