This is a pretty good show. Probably one of my favorites. Series one has some pretty quality material!

Yep, they filmed twelve episodes for both series recently - series 11 just before Christmas and series 12 just after.
Set reports from audience members have been pretty positive, so I'm hoping it's at least as good as 10 (which I thought was a return to form, and better than the show had been since series 6, probably).

Good points, and Naylor has a lot to answer for, but I think you're painting a too-rosy picture of Grant and a too negative of Naylor.Grant needed Naylor, and vice versa. Neither was up to it alone

I dont think its unfair at all IMO, Grant would have definitely not let Rimmers character be destroyed (working class hero my ****) or allow an episode to air in which the main joke is being stuck on the phone for the whole episode oh, and Rimmer made a face. I would say of everything that came after series six to date, series eight has been the least worst.

Series 11 and 12 have both been filmed. The 11th series is due later this year, and 12th is due next year.

Didn't know 11 had been filmed let alone a 12th

Unfair against Naylor. Grant was the story-teller and most of the storyline ideas. Read Colony and Incompetence, found them, OK but tediously slow. Not too much in the way of humour in Grants writing unlike Naylor, who had the humour but no idea about plots (although "Backwards" the book was far better than "Last Human" - Naylor took far too long to realize having a dismal character like Kochanski as a MAIN character was an atrocious decision - and spoilt his Last Human book as it did series 7 & :sunglasses:

Series 11 was supposed to have been out by now. 10 was decent. Better than the God-awful 7 or 8 anyways. Naylor and Grant work together well. Apart very poor quality - especially Grant. His books were quite good, but S.....L......O......W.
And not selling. The Strangerers was weird, and didn't work - not available as even a DVD - doesn't that say it all ?

Rob Grant was the only one with the talent, once he left (after series six) everything after was dross in comarison. As for the books? The Last Human was written by Doug Naylor and was naff, Backwards was written by Rob Grant and was absolutely excellent (Especially the Ace Rimmer part).
Colony, Fat and Incompetence are also awesome books.

Aw man, I remember when it cost £13.99 to buy half a season (3 episodes!) on VHS. Now you can get 24 episodes for a couple of quid.

Good deal, however, this is the wrong section. It belongs under entertainment does it not?
