I've got one of these. They are good, but I'm not sold on the resolution. It's still pretty hard to make out a number plate if unless they are pretty close.

Aldi's have a special buy for car dashcam this coming Sunday 8th for £29.99 with 3yrs warranty if anyone's interested.
Specs seem OK for the price, if it's poor, easy enough to get a refund

Seems good. You should put it up as a deal.

I've owned one of these for a couple of years. No problem with size and like the presence it has. I leave it in and never had any problems. Used it to send footage to a haulage firm when I was ran off the motorway by one of their drivers. Did the job nicely.

I have the first version and it's a very good dash cam (spent ages reading reviews before I went ahead with the only negatives being the sound quality, but who needs top HIFI sound quality, the silver ring shows a bit much, but this is soon sorted with black marker or electricians tape and also it looses it's time and date, but for me it is only after being unplugged for more than 2 weeks and picks it up again as soon as it connects to your mobile to sync with that.

What's the different between this and the argos one? The argos one seems to also come with a better suction cup.

Does the Argos one have a battery or a capacitor?

I just bought the one from argos and it does say 2016 on the box. Of course I received a returned item from argos as usual with finger prints and marks all over the item.

You guys done good! My one from Argos is 2015 :disappointed:
ether707
6 May 16#24
Does it say on the back bottom left of the box 2015?
kennethsross
6 May 16#25
Yeah, it does; also says v. 1.0. And on little white square sticker at bottom right on the back, also says 2015 at the top of that.
ether707
6 May 16#26
Ah.. mine has v1.1 and 03.2016 date on the white sticker. Is there actually a difference between the 2016 model and the one you have? If so you can take it back and ask for a 2016 one.

Hey guys just got mine through the post. A bit confused as the white sticker on right side says 03.2016 (with Russian writing) and bottom left corner v1.0! What have the rest of you guys got?

Main difference is reserve power. Earlier models use a capacitor, that only holds date / time for a few days. 2016 models have changed the capacitor for a battery, so hold data much longer.
Nearest Argos with stock is nearly 30 miles away, and might also be 2015. ( 5 stores nearer, but none with stock).
Might also be 2015 - Argos never seem keen to check details of their stock for you.

I was looking to buy one yesterday and local stores had it down to 'order now, collect in 5 days'. I then looked on the website again today and they are in stock to collect immediately. It may be worth ringing around stores.

So I'm guessing mine isn't v2 as Amazon claim to be sending?!?! :/
ether707
7 May 16#34
v2 is just the firmware version. Take a look at the settings on your dashcam to see what firmware verision it is. Mine is v2.1 straight out of the box.
Expired. Still amazed manufacturers aren't offering these built into rear view mirror as a standard option.

Sounds more a bit rate issue than a resolution problem. Also 30fps is pretty low, 60 would be a lot better.

I had a V 1.1 a few months back and it would only hold the time and date for a few hours so I returned it.
May consider this newer version as it has a battery rather than capacitor so should hold charge for far longer.
It was a great dash cam apart from this fault.
ether707 to jon67
15 May 16#45
Ah, the 1.1 must be the one without a battery. If I charge it on my computer it can hold a charge for an hour I think.
