I think this is the cheapest way to get a 5GB drive at the moment, whether you want to use it as an external USB drive or split it to use as an internal sata drive. I'm not sure what drive is fitted, of course, you'll invalidate the warranty if you remove the drive but I've done this with all my large drives and they've all lasted for at least several years, however YMMV!

Thought it seemed a bit to good to be true. Think I'll leave it as well.

HUKD tell me it's because that seller has insufficient feedback to qualify here. I don't think i'll bother with it.

I spotted that and thought the same as you.

Anyone know why the 2 previous deals for this drive sold by WIGGhoff Retail INT on amazon were deleted here? It's back today at £90 but i'm concerned it's dodgy.
Finally got around to opening this drive. Inside is an MD04ACA500 with FW: FP2A. I have three of these drives in my NAS already (one has FW: FP1A) with no issues with sleep so it looks like it is the USB3 interface that is the issue. I saw the sleep problem when verifying the drive (by bitlockering it). Took several days to complete and went to sleep 4 or 5 times.
The disk drive itself looks to have a 2 year warranty from Toshiba.

Thanks for posting this, it should be useful to those who have bought the drive.
How did you check the drive for warranty?, when I've done that in the past, it usually says something like this is not a directly warrantied product, refer to the supplier for warranty.

I got a 5TB My Book Elements of the WDC education store for £99. Its £120 now though but the prices go up and down all the time.
If this is like the 3TB one, then it appears reliable, but has its own set of problems.. If not accessed for a while, it goes into sleep mode, and need to be unplugged / re-plugged in, its a right pain imo if you intend to use it for Plex and the like, if you google Toshiba hard drive sleep problem, you will see loads of comments about it, there appears to be no long term fix, I have tried amending the power settings, Crystal disk, recurring access writes', nothing works. Good deal though for general storage, just be aware that it may suffer the same problems as other Toshiba Canvio's unless they have updated the cases.

lol, did Amazon cut their price by one pence to price match BT? Sad but funny if they did.

It powers down after a few mins of inactivity then takes about fifteen seconds to spin up when accessed again. Is this the problem you mean or is there something worse I dont know about?

From one of the Amazon reviews, it seems that the drive inside is Toshiba MD04ACA500, 7200 rpm, 64MB cache, SATA III.

I got lucky on Amazon, turns out it has an EU plug tho. Didn't matter to me as I opened it any ways haha. But that maybe why it was going so cheap, clearing stock?

Ha ha that is the HD that I ordered last night. £70? Wow! Was hoping that I would read great things about this cheaper Toshiba alternative

If you look at the most critical reviews, you will get the idea.
