After the world is ravaged by a zombie apocalypse, a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), find themselves traveling in search of a safe and secure home. As they struggle to fend off the zombie hordes, they soon find themselves being threatened by other survivor groups who are prepared to do whatever it takes to survive. Based on one of the most successful and popular comic books of all time, written by Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead vividly captures the tension, drama and devastation following a zombie apocalypse.

If someone told me a year ago I'd be watching zombies back to back for six series over just a few months I would have told them they were having a laugh...I started watching this just around January time and think its one of the best TV series I've ever watched.
Amongst my all time favorites are The Wire, The Shield and The Sopranos so this was a step outside what I would usually rate as unmissable. Don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed The Fringe and Supernatural so I'm not just a crime drama fan.
When I finished series 5 of Walking Dead I was like an addict going through withdrawal waiting for season 6 to come out
Great TV. How can you string out a zombie story for so long and it still be gripping! There are the occasional 'fillers' but I have found it pretty consistent overall.

For certain parts like on the farm, I'd agree with you. For the rest of it I couldn't disagree more. How much of it have you watched?

Just watch Banshee instead. You will not regret it....

I suppose I get the whole 'long/drawn-out' argument but, for me, the whole series is so well done. From the make-up to the suspense to the unpredictability. Well worth checking out.

Agree. Some episodes are classics and TV highpoints for any series but there is so much boring filler and the series appears to have no endgame. I bailed out at the mid series finales the last season. The series itself has become a zombie, destined to walk the earth repeating the same tedious daily routine with no conceivable end in sight.

You can't be serious right? That part (on the farm) where Rick is speaking to Carl about eventually not being around and the harsh lesson that nothing in the world can prepare him for that is just fantastic stuff. You know people acting like real people. Even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse?
That is what really sets this show apart from others and I'm not even a zombie fan. Seems like your just mistaking 'boring' for actual character development.

Orrr you could have asked me to clarify. I was referring to their drawn-out search for Carol's daughter, which dragged on far longer than I felt it needed to.

It's good but I think first three/ four seasons had me hooked until some of the bigger characters left. I must admit 24 with Kiefer Sutherland is one of my favourite TV series ever but each to their own
Psst Game of Thrones is amazing too!

True, I gave up watching it many times before returning because i ran out of things to watch. So god damn repetitive and annoying inconsistent.

Good price for the box set. I am a big fan of the show but the last episode, with The Comedian from Watchmen, just made me roll my eyes. Ridiculously out of sync timelines, good characters suddenly becoming morons and of course a big clichéd cliff hanger.
