The Amiibo unlocks a challenge dungeon, completion of which will grant you a bumper-sized wallet. If you like the sound of that then only you can determine how much you'd be willing to pay for it. If you're not into Amiibo then I doubt this will be the one to start your collection as the game on its own is only £23, as you say.

I will say, though, that the Wolf Link Amiibo is a lovely looking thing and well worth the £12 if you're at all interested in a plastic figure to sit on your shelf.

By the way, it came well packaged (in a large cardboard box - with those large plastic bubbles/packets), in mint condition. So good for collectors. I guess demand for this is low. I suppose Skyward sword with a gold wiimote was a much better deal at the time (a new game, and wii remotes themselves cost a lot), which was only £45, and now goes easily for £80, but this still seems a very good deal at £35, and will be worth a lot more in the future I imagine.

Thanks OP / Berniesfinger hadn't bought this until now, seems a good value purchase. Amiibos can still be a collectible figurine or plastic toy as some see them, and unlock some proper additional content as is traditional with such figures. That way you please everyone and get good value for money. Its no surprise some of the Amiibos don't even need the packaging removed to use them with your console.... they just unlock so little at times its only really the collectability factor that makes a purchase worthwhile.

Well worth the extra £12 for the wolf link amiibo and soundtrack CD in my opinion. Great resale/collector value too.

Can agree to disagree. When Amiibos were first released most people (rightly or wrongly) believed this was going to be on par with Skylanders/Disney infinity figurines and provide fairly significant unlocks for games.

I'd also argue that they started off being pretty strong with the whole AI fighting system in super smash bros. However since then it's literally just been a colour change or something equally useless. Personally I feel they should be adding something significant to the game, otherwise they may as well just be collectible figurines with no electronic interaction.

Wait, no. That's exactly what Amiibos shouldn't do.
They shouldn't unlock major content. And they normally don't.
You should want to buy an Amiibo because of the actual figurine and not because it unlocks new levels in Super Mario 3D World and other games. The unlocks should be a tiny bonus on top of that.

The only one, that unlocks major content, is the Shovel Knight amiibo and that's 3rd party. It unlocks for example the wii U exclusive coop mode and much more. That's basically like buying DLC.

I agree, that's what Amiibo's should do, unlock something significant or worthwhile, and true extra content. Not let you have a change of clothes or variation of sprites on the playing character, like man Amiibo's do in many games.

The soundtrack CD is amazing and well worth owning!

That sounds better than it actually is. It's a tiny circular area basically, where you fight some monsters. It's nothing major.

However the Amiibo is really nice.
