Once you try Pakistani Chaunsa, no other mango will be worth the mess. Available from your local Halal shop. Possibly on a corner if a Tesco Express hasn't taken it over.

Where are the mangoes from? Are they Indian? Are they Alphonso?
It really does matter! It's all about the taste.

Absolutely! Once you have real Alphonso/Kesar others seems irrelevant. Probably few weeks until Indian mangoes will be available here.

Indian mangoes have been available in Leicester and other cites for a few weeks. But they are around £10-£12. for a box of 12.

Take your children out of school legally on holiday to India and eat them every day at a fraction of the UK price and enjoy India at the same time!

That does sound nice, too many mangoes though... I have a feeling it isn't going to go well with the stomachs. But they have to be my favourite fruit by far! But the flight would be quite expensive

Yes it is by far. Alphanso are called king of Mangoes. If you can find 'fruity fresh' box from India even better imo....

Good price, but like all Tesco fruit, it will be dry and flavourless.

Mangoes from the subcontinent (India/Pakistan) are miles better than any others. My personal favourite is the Chaunsa variety, it's like having a perfectly packed mango sorbet straight from the tree.
I assume these aren't more widely known in the ukUK is due to the fact you can't get them year round and unlike the green boulders most v supermarkets usually v stock these don't keep fresh/raw in supermarket warehouses for months on end.
