Had these the other week as handy for a quick meal through the week. tasty with a squeeze of lemon. paid £2 before and thought that was great, but now even cheaper.

You could go on (and probably will)
But that doesn't change the facts. Aldi offers much better value for money, on cod fillets and almost everything else. The fact you don't have one near you isn't relevant, and the checkout jobs is simply a lie. Tesco's claim to open a checkout whenever there's a queue is long expired - while it's routine in Aldi. As your know if you ever went there.
If you prefer Tesco, fine.
But the fact you needed to lie about it speaks volumes.

Trouble is, they're not cod fillet, they're 'reconstituted / reshaped / whatever the marketing team call it today' - so what you're getting is a pile of cod crumbs, surrounded by an even bigger pile of breadcrumbs.
Spend a few pence more at Aldi, and you'll get real cod fillet in breadcrumbs. Mmmmmmmmm!

This is only done so they can get accurate weights and same sized pieces into boxes.
The ingredients and description on Tesco said it's 100% cod. The remaining ingredients are all in the breaded coating...

actually it is proper fillet meat. not mushed up fishcake style. Having had them several times now I can confirm they are delicious and meaty.
This is A Tesco deal. I don't have an Aldi or a Lidl near me. Used to get all my meat at Lidl but Tesco match / beat their prices on fresh meat now so everything is in the one store for me. Aldi don't have click and collect or scan as you shop, never enough staff on tills, no where near the variety of a massive superstore like Tesco....I could go on....

once you learn how to make fresh fish at home you never go back to frozen.

Its absolutely to do with weights, hence why the boxes contain exactly 500g and are designed with dimensions to fit them...
Fresh cuts of cod vary in size, which makes is much harder on a mass production aspect to make them...

You've obviously never been in a supermarket.
They manage perfectly well for the 'premium' - cod fillets - as I've already stated.
You need to get out more.

I'm not disputing that's it's cod, simply saying that it's flakes of cod shaped to fit, rather than cod fillet cut to fit.
Nothing to do with accurate weights and same size- they (and everyone else) manage to pack cod fillets for their 'premium' range.
This is like buying tuna flakes instead of chunks: a slimy mess of a fishcake.

Have you guys ever made your own batter? Ingredients are based on weight and amount...
If you don't want batter just but frozen whole fillets of fish?

Not very good theres only 52% fish in them so i will give them a miss.

Good price, but even at this cheap price I don't think I'd buy them at only 52% fish. 48% breadcrumbs seems an awful lot.
