This is the response I got from TCP when I emailed them about the recent change.
Good morning,
The internet of things IoT continues to evolve and the support technology was no longer a viable service for TCP to offer to its customers. Connected was our first venture into the connected home market and we learned a great deal in the process about what works and what doesn’t work. Unfortunately, the Connected platform is just something that TCP can no longer sustain. However, the units will continue to operate locally through your app and local wi-fi connection, and all other features of the app will remain unaffected by this change in service levels.
Thank you,

Assume everyone's WAN light is now lit up red on their hub? This is a massive pain, however scheduling is still working as far as I can tell (assume that's all local from the hub). I have an Android device in my home that I connect to remotely for a few things using AirDroid, as long as I can get to that via the web I can then control the lights as if I'm local. Bit of a faff, but one way around things.

This thread should be renamed "TCP Disconnected Dumb Home LED Lighting Kit".
Tempted to return mine to Homebase and demand a refund as they are no longer provide the functionality stated on the packaging i.e. are not fit for purpose. Only reason not to is that the price for the LED bulbs was still competitive even without the smart functionality.

Yikes what a pain. Let's hope someone hacks a mod/ workaround.
Would we be entitled to money back from the company. I'm sure they can't just decide to stop support out of the blue.

Basically you will only be able to control them after 30th June when at home connected to your WiFi network. No remote control, no scheduling, no access via other apps/services, and no more TCP app updates (so after an iOS/Android OS update may stop working altogether). What a waste of money...

Everyone heard the latest news. Apparently TCP are no longer supporting the cloud aspect of the lighting service. Which is a bugger for those who rely on remotely activating their lights.
You can zoom through the web interface. Make sure you get the right type of connection, ES or BC. This one is BC.

I had to move my gateway closer to the bulbs. As the bulbs kept losing connection. Something to keep in mind if you guys encounter the same problem.

22 May 16#112
Glad it heped. Yup, I think it's a common theme that those stores that had stock will have ES ones left over if any rather than BC as bayonet are more standard/popular for ceiling light connections. However, keep in mind there's a chance your store may have additional individual BC bulbs (£2 a time) that won't show on the website. You could use these with the hub from an ES starter kit, obviously a slightly pricier way of doing things but still very cheap compared to the usual price.

When I checked the app remotely, the lights are not showing as on when they should be. I am able to tap manually and turn them on from the app when I'm not at home, but I can't keep doing this. Right, 1 x gateway, 1 x remote and 4 x bulbs over 3 rooms playing nicely. I have two bulbs now however that don't want to join in. Put them into a bulb socket, power on and they just come on light a normal light - they do not pulse. Any thoughts, is there anyway to effectively 'reset' a bulb? Thanks.
I've set mine up, one remote can control up to 4 bulbs. And one gateway can support up to 250 bulbs. They are interchangeable i.e. You can pair any bulbs with any remote/gateway, it doesn't have to be from the same pack.
Plush
14 May 161#84
morgie:- There are 4 individual numbered buttons on the remote, plus 1 button that has "1-4" written on it, plus what looks to be a dimmer up and down button, plus a power on/off button.
I havent started using the remote as Im taking everything abroad.
The box says ... "Allows user to control all smart light bulbs at once or one zone at a time".
"Controls up to 250 smart light bulbs". "Remotely control lighting, dimming and power from anywhere in your home with the tcp connected smart lighting remote".
I read this as ... 1 hub controls up to 250 light bulbs. This remote can control all 250 light bulbs, but it will control 4 them in zones (groups) of bulbs. The button labelled "1-4" will switch all the bulbs on. The 4 individual buttons numbered 1 to 4 will deal with that individual zone. You can switch each zone on individually. I would guess that if you havent nominated a zone for a bulb then the remote will ignore it. Not sure if the downloadable app does the same thing as the remote. I only got mine yesterday and apart from testing each bulb works, thats as far as I got. All the bulbs I bought are edison fitting, my uk home is all baynet fitting and I only have 2 converters (edison to baynet).

14 May 16#83
Sorry if also covered, but can one remote be used with multiple sets of the lights, or do you need one remote per set?
Can anyone also confirm how many bulbs one gateway can support?

AAB to N42
13 May 161#77
They can be used with the normal light switch, however, if it's off from the light switch, you can't turn it on with the App/remote as there is no power at the bulb.
However, if it's on at the switch, you can turn it on/off with the App/remote.

Set up smooth. About 1 second delay between dimming on the app and it happening in real life. Pretty cool.
Anyone know if I can use other compatible apps or even other bulbs from other companies?
I reserved 7 of these £10 ones but then got a call from Homebase saying they don't have stock and apparently all got sold this morning. Hmmm looks like a stock clearout?
These ones have the wired gateway which I believe is old stock. The newer ones (like the one I have) have the wireless gateway.
None in Devon :disappointed:
Out of stock near sheffield/derby/nottingham :disappointed:
