Had a look at office chairs last week and came across this one at around £60. I thought that was a good deal but went back to order and it's down to less than £40! Bargain? I think so.
Great reviews - loads of other office chairs further reduced.

I have this chair and want to impart some advice. I really like this chair, but after a year or so, the gas lift has begun to fail. Once or twice a day, it begins to drop. Sometimes, it's a slow drop, sometimes it judders down.
Anyway, I do like the chair, but I wanted to let people know what happened to mine. I haven't had another gas element do this in any other chairs I've had.

I bought one of these for the same price a few years ago, still working great, way more comfortable & durable than expected.

It's sounds great. I've been making do with a dining room chair when working from home so my posture had been appalling!

Exactly the same here - dining room tables are not good for the back!

Like DeeJayAJ, I got one of these 3 or so years ago for around the same price.
Used 5hrs+ every day so certainly had my money's worth out of it!
Very comfy and no issues with the gas lift myself.

Gas lift cyclinders are a hit or a miss, I have two Argos chairs where one is nearly 10 years old and the gas lift is flawless whereas the other one failed after 5 years (can't knock the value I got there; paid about £80 each). Yours will eventually be grounded on the lowest height, you can fix it yourself if you're bothered, will cost a tenner or so for a replacement cylinder (that's assuming the base isn't moulded into that cylinder). Staples offers a year's warranty so I think it's ok to take a plunge at £40 with the generally good reviews.

As I said, I like the chair! Sitting on it right now, as it happens  It was a mere £32 for me, so I'm not complaining, either! It's a nice slimline chair with an airy mesh on the back (great for summer). The only downer is the cushion - it's decent, but does crush down a fair bit.

Bought, thanks. Was going to go for the Viking bonded leather but hey heard good things about mesh chairs so giving it a shot.
Anyone know the reason for 'Order Care'? You pay an extra pound for 12 month warranty but if that's the case then shouldn't it just be free like Amazon?

Looks extremely alike but it's not identical, e.g. the lever angle.

Cheers OP, gone for this for the new office. Couldn't stomach another £300 on something fancy this time

26 May 16#18
I wouldn't call that a definitive difference as, my chair's lever sits at a similar angle. HOWEVER, what is different are the arms. On the Staples one, they're very similar except for the thickness as they move downwards, at the front. The ebay one doesn't look as thin at the front part.

Bough one thanks

26 May 16#20
eBay seat part looks a little thin too in comparison
g4mer
26 May 16#21
I think they are the same but the arms have been assembled the wrong way round.
Returns aren't accepted on the eBay listing so it's a bit risky as you'll only get your money back if there's a fault with it.

26 May 16#22
You can't assemble them the wrong way round. Unless you meant swapping the sides so the metal part is at the front, instead.
Anyway, just to be clear, I meant the front plastic part of the chair visible on both the Staples AND eBay one. They're very slightly different in thickness as they come downward from the arm rest.

The back support strip on the cheap one is straight , original one is arched ...

Gone for the ebay one, its the same chair.

I thought the arms were fitted the wrong way around as well and that could may be indicate a difference and then I noticed that the ebay one also showed 1 picture with the arms fitted in same direction as the Staples one, hence I didn't sight that as a difference.

Glad to hear it. only just attempted to put mine together and all looks good. But I am a little stumped with the casters - do they just sort of sit loose and are kept in place by the weight from above or is there some way of screwing them on? I may well be being stupid here...... :-)
imdurc
27 May 16#33
If I remember correctly, they just push right in and lock in place. No screwing needed. I think it's a form of wedging system, I may be wrong.

get hold of the caster with the frame on the floor and twist and it into the hole move side to side the c clip will slide in and lock

Hey guys. After this chair use, I am getting back pain from the horizontal black line of the back chair plus butt bone hurts too, seems like not enough padding. Am i the only one? Surprised to hear it is comfortable for you guys. :disappointed:
