Use code : HELMETAMNESTY Online.
It doesn't state how to send your old helmet to them, well I couldn't find it but the code works :)
Various Specialized helmets up for grabs with 50% off their sale price when trading in your old helmet. This includes the 2015 S Works Prevail (Large only) for £49.99 which retails for well over £100 everywhere else. If your lid is worn or damaged its worth having a look, I don't need one but very tempted with the S Works. Prices range from £19.99 upwards with the code.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy a knock off helmet, they are nowhere near the same standards, they will not have the protection. they will not comply with EN1078.
No, it's a deal. From the specialized website link posted above -

You can get knock off ones at Aliexpress. I cant vouch for the quality, but I imagine they are all made in China, with the same material technology and processes.

IMO not worth it at all.. I had one of them from AliExpress, then i saw this episode of BBC Fake Britain a while back where they tested them BBC Fake Britain - Fake Bike Helmets (Sorry video no longer available). They look virtually the same, but the tests in the episode showed them to be not just useless but dangerous compared to an identical 'looking' fake one. That was enough for me to bin the fake and buy a genuine one... You could see and feel the quality difference straight away with a genuine one.

Not bad. Thanks op. Bagged a proper 2. Been thinking about getting one for a while.
I'm not really planning on trading anything in. I wonder if they will honor the order.
Sizing on these is a little different in my experience. They tend to be rather narrow. If your head (top section) is more oval than round you should be fine going by their official sizing. But I found a small (51-57cm) is too narrow for my wife, who has a 55cm head!

This man speaks sense. I remember Watchdog doing an article on fake motor cycle helmets and the results were staggering. The fake helmets offered very little protection, not worth the gamble at all.

I'm thinking of buying a new helmet, but thinking how often do you 'really' have to replace them if not been dropped or in a accident? manufacturers are bound to say every 3 years, or whatever it is, to scaremonger you into buying them regularly.

Some of the comments on this thread remind me of the VW advert where the gentleman buys the cheap parachute because he gets a free alarm clock with it stating there all the same. Great deal for an item that you can't afford to scrimp on. <3

Good deal, though the code doesn't seem to work on every colour, but tempted to get a replacement. I already have a Prevail; very light yet comfortable.

This isn't a deal. It's a genuine offer that people are taking advantage of. Not to be used just to buy a new helmet, but for those who, for example have had an accident and need a replacement helmet.

OK but most people here won't be trading in a helmet I'd hazard a guess at...

If more cyclists obeyed red lights, that would surely add to the exceptional safety record of Specialized equipment.
Please do not buy a cheapo helmet from Aliexpress or else your intestines could be on the menu at KebabExpress.

Thanks, I bought a couple for me and my girlfriend. They don't look as bulky as the usual £10-£15 helmets from Argos etc.

Yet to find a helmet that fits me properly. Have to settle for an "XL" met that's has the back carved out to fit my head.
I'm not the only one in my group of friends, but it seems manufacturers ignore the problem - just make an XL that's actually extra large!

FYI, you'll need to find a local store to trade in. There's one in Newbury (though let me get there first please!!)
3. Offer valid in store only.

It's safer for cyclists to cross at red lights because there is no traffic. Many cyclists are killed when vehicles turn at junctions. So it would have the opposite effect.

Well, as long as the all knowing Gatzar "imagines" the knock off helmets are the same as the real one, we'll all be fine...
Back in reality, are you for real? Of course the knock off helmets aren't as good as the genuine ones, just like the Chinese knock offs of almost every other product. It takes a special kind of idiot to buy knock off safety gear that you're going to use yourself! I guess it could be worse, you could buy them for your kids...

Not instore only I've done it online

How? As when you select the helmet, size and colour it then asks you to "find a retailer", taking you to a map based in the US!
I've phoned up a store who have fairly limited stock.

Did it at Rutland cycles. Free delivery too. Slightly different helmet but still half price.
I called them as i had the same issue and they advised that the deal should have been In-store Only and not available online (it was put on by them by mistake). Any orders that got placed will be honoured but no new ones will be taken online. Still available if you can get to one of the shops though

Yep - bought one for myself and my two kids.
As I said an excellent piece of kit for a tenner, with great amount of adjustment to get a comfy fit. Built in LED light at the back of the helmet is a bonus

After having shoddy service anywhere, I wouldn't use again.
If you have good service you go back.
If you're saying you would go back to any business after shoddy service then you must like punishment.
Saying that there are plenty of places where I have had great service while others have had poor service.
I had an aweful experience at Rutland Cycles and wouldn't give my money to anyone who has given me terrible service.

I wonder if the specialised helmets are demonstrably better at protecting your noggin than an aldi one. Are the safety standards set so that a product must reach a minimum safety standards? Wouldn't an a helmet that passed the test be as safe as another helmet irrespective of cost? Or would an expensive helmet exceed the safety standards?

Not sure I'd agree they look like the supermarket ones they are. As others have said saving a tenner does really help if you dead. For a tenner more you can get a £40 spesh which will be miles better.
