Received mine from Tesco Direct 4 days ago and I cannot fault it one bit. Picture is crisp, interface is great and the colours are second to none. It sounds like there must be a problems with your TV as I am yet to experience such issues and have heard nothing but good things about them. Try contacting Sony about the problem.

Just boxed mine back up and gone back to my old LG 42LN543V. Colours are better, blacks are black in normal daytime viewing.
Also, anyone else experiencing dullness of colours once you move from centre to the right - say to 45 degrees? With the LG, the colours remains bright.
Not buying Sony again and probably not from AO either as I'm afraid I will get stung / fobbed off even though I feel it's a fault (is this not an IPS panel?).
I have also experienced temperamental power ups from cold (ie. switch off from mains overnight, then when switch back on the next day, sometimes it takes many attempts to power back up).

Utter nonsense I'm afraid, as mentioned by lenmar, the x85 refers to the higher spec x8505/7/9 series.
The x800/x810 did not get a HDR update.

I dont think it does? think the x85c actually relates to the x8505c x8507c x8509c.

This 100% has HDR but a firmware update is required to enable it. Also the models posted as having HDR are the U.S names. The European names just have zeros between the the two digits (85 = 8005) etc.
I may be mistaken, but I think I read somewhere on the net that if you enable freeview or freesat then it disabled the other from that point on.....I might have got the wrong end of the stick though, and am curious if you can have both at the same time?

I have the 55 inch and it's not a question of adding it yourself it will happen automatically when you plug it in for the first time, the update also adds youview and fixes all the android issues that people had been moaning about up to the end of march. I got mine before xmas and it was frustrating to start with but it is perfect now.

If you want HDR why not wait for a TV which has HDR out of the box, rather than gambling that you will somehow be able to add that feature yourself?

I doubt it, a lot of users reported price match being unavailable for a similar deal on Tesco Direct last week with discount codes applied.

It had a firmware update which allows the TV to support HDR content via USB. I've tried a few HDR videos already and it looks good, just obviously not as great as a proper TV with HDR would look.

Still worth going with JL for the warranty. Also, see above
