Now here me out out before all the cold votes.
12 months ago, Sky offered Sky Talk(line rental), free 12m broadband and 100£ account credit which all equated to about 6£ (for postage of the router) for the whole term of the contract. Many of us here took up that deal which was posted here.
That credit ended this month on my account when I noticed sky took 3£ish from my bank to cover whats due after the few pounds of the 100£ credit was used up. I looked online to see what the latest and cheapest broadband deals there were to be had, nothing came close to the sky deal from last year. Cheapest was PlusNet which was like 230£ for 12m. Not impressed with my search, I gave sky a call today. I went straight to cancellations and asked if they had any deals on as my current one just expired. The girl on the phone offered me free broadband and a discounted line rental for 12.50. As pleased as I was with this offer, I asked of there's any way that can be made cheaper, she tapped away and told me she could discount the line rental down to 10£ pm. I accepted the offer and am happy to be now paying 10£ for sky line rental and unlimited broadband for the next 12 months.
I thought I'd post this because I know dozens of us took up the deal that was posted here 12 months ago and I think you'd be able to get the same deal as I did if you're looking to renew.
Sorry for the long post, I'd post a potato if I could.

i was on a chat with advisor, told that I want to cancel my broadband, then he offered me free broadband for one year. I asked about fiber, but he couldn't get anything good, so I told him to proceed with cancellation and that I will switch to SSE £21 pm fiber. then he went to ask his manager who gave me this deal.

Ha! Hadn't seen this post! Did you put it in the original thread because I had that one on subscription so surprised I missed it. Just went through the chat and was offered the same deal straight off - very happy with it because every year I switch provider to get the best deal and Sky has been the only one I've ever had with a consistently good speed.

I was just coming out of the same great deal from last year. I went through to cancellations/retentions and had to be gently persistent that I needed a better deal than was offered as the price came down slowly and said goodbye before the £10 figure was reached, but was successful at getting the Broadband and Line Rental for £10 per month all in. Thats with "pay as you talk", but I only use the mobile so just what I wanted. The Sky Agent was really good and the interaction was smooth. Thanks for the great post !

Well I have nothing to compare it to on the BT line. There is no peak, whatever time of day it just hits 5. That's why I thought it was capped. My worry is if I pay for Fibre rather than the standard I have now is my line just going to slow it down and I get stuck at 5 but just paying more...

7 Jun 16#129
Those virgin speeds are fibre. The sky deal was just normal bb, not fibre.
Don't compare your line speeds to others on a forum unless you all live in the same neighbourhood. Location is a big factor in determining speeds. I get around 11mbits peak on sky, I got similar on BT too.
GAVINLEWISHUKD
6 Jun 16#128
Well just looked at mine and was connected up on the 09/07/16. So will have to phone this week. My BB seems to either be capped at 5Mbps or that's as fast as my line will go (always had virgin before 20mb then 30mb).
So don't know if I manage to get the £10 offer is it worth paying the extra £10 for fibre? Just presumed it was speed capped as it was free. But others seem to have had faster speeds.

Thank you OP. I managed to get this deal. I wasn't offered in the first attempt but after giving 31 days notice and then receiving cancellation email stating cancellation would take place 48 days after the day I called.
I called Sky to ask what sort of con job was they up to as their cancellation date would mean me paying line rental and broadband charge.
Issue sorted and new contract starts today and I still have credit left from the original contract where £100 was given.
So £120 for the year I can't complain :sunglasses: although FREE is always better. :stuck_out_tongue:.

This is coming from EE...
How long will it take?
Once you've signed up to an Unlimited Broadband plan from EE, it will normally take up to 10 working days for your Broadband to go active (as long as you don't need an engineer to install a phone line). You can keep using your existing broadband right up until your EE Broadband goes live.
But this is best bit...
£50 Early Cancellation Credit
Still in contract with your current broadband provider? If you cancel your contract early to switch to EE broadband and are charged for leaving, we’ll credit your account with £50.
Once your broadband is active, simply send us your final bill from your previous supplier if you were charged for leaving your contract early. As a thank you we'll credit £50 to your EE broadband account.
Terms
The Early Cancellation Credit of £50 for cancellation fees or early termination charges from your previous broadband and calls provider is only available to customers who are in contract with another provider for their broadband and calls subscription on the date they join EE broadband and incurred charges for leaving early. Subscription includes any monthly outstanding payments for line rental or monthly call plans - this does not include outstanding call charges. You'll need to provide evidence that you were in contract at the time you ordered your EE broadband and evidence you have paid any cancellation fees or early termination charges. Evidence must be provided by uploading electronic copies at http://50credit.ee.co.uk/, where instructions on how to do this are provided. You must claim your £50 credit within 90 days of your EE broadband service being activated. The credit will be applied to your EE broadband account in the next month following the satisfactory completion and processing of your request. If the credit is for an amount greater than your monthly charge, the remainder of the credit will be credited to the bank account from which your EE broadband monthly direct debit is taken.
I've not sign up with EE before but have done a speed test & comes back as ADSL broadband: 14.0 Mb/sec download. We estimate that your line can support download speeds of between 8.0 Mb/sec and 18.5 Mb/sec.
I could only suggest it is slightly slower than what I have with Sky. So I can only assume that EE will guarantee MINIMUM speeds of 14.0 Mb/sec when I know full well based on my location that I can go higher with Sky upto 18.5 Mb/sec.

* Introductory offer: £1 a month for 12 months then £9.95 a month (12 month contract). Customers outside of our network area pay £24.95 a month.

I managed to get fibre with Sky for £20, including rental. The best way to convince them is to say that you are leaving for SSE, with their £21 offer going on at the moment. Since you won't get the cashback by not being on BT phone line, it's definitly better to stay with Sky for that £1 savings and 6 months less contract.

Freebie Sky BB here, I ordered the BT Unlimited Broadband £7.50 special option (via TCB) and paid the line rental in advance equalling £16.25 a month and £7.50 direct debit with BT Sport (and got BT TV threw in when I called to complain about their mess up of BT Sports on Sky)
Was paying £19.99 for Sport thats going up to £21.99 this month. £23.75 all in for 12 months so £1.76 more for line rental and unlimited broadband than BT Sports solo.
Top cashback was £146  So BT line, unlimited broadband, and BT Sport £140, thats £11.66 a month then £75 Mastercard = £5.83 a month
Roll over to BT on 30th June, the day before Sky start charging full price

Thank you for posting. My contract runs out Friday.
I contacted Sky by LiveChat yesterday and told them about the offer but I was told all I could be offered was half price broadband and full line rental.
Today I called Sky on number given here. Spoke to a really nice lady and told her about the offer and LiveChat offer. I was offered the same offer I'm on now. I refused the offer and she then kindly checked the system and offered me the deal for £10.
Thank you so much.

Great deal, many thanks OP for posting it.
My contract was up with Sky so it prompted me to act. They offered reduced line rental for £10pm, with fibre for £10pm or normal broadband free.
I've stayed with normal broadband (it works well here) and added on UK (inclusive of 0845, 0870 and mob's) and international calls at £12pm (I've got family in 4 of the included countries).
Supposedly I should be paying £36.90 per month for this package, and it reverts to this when the 12 month contract completes. That'll be time for further negotion-

This happened to me a few years ago I had sky Internet and phone completely free for about roughly 2 years, I assumed it was a big mistake and just expected a huge bill eventually, I used to use the land line to call friends in America for hours lol eventually my broadband wasn't fast enough for me as I wanted fibre like everyone else so I pointed out there mistake when I switched to plus net, I got a letter admitting there had been a mistake on their system which had stopped people from being charged and they weren't chasing me for the bill as it was their mistake.
I've still got the letter, I considered framing it lol I've never let anyone say a bad thing about sky's customer service in my presence since haha

Seeing as we get totally ripped off in my city due to no competition, that's Hull in Yorkshire who's monopolised by KCOM (karoo internet) you have struck a decent deal.
We must have a phone line as well to qualify for broadband and costs £41.49 a month. Not fibre either. Best I get is 5mbps download. Stick Sky on top of that and you soon realise that all you guys who have a BT line are very lucky.

Don't forget their prices go up on the 1st June. I had my new sky package installed today and not even viewed it for 5 hours and they send me an email to say my package is going up a fiver a month from next month. What an absolute joke. I have only budgeted to have their service back for 12 months and will cancel again.
Saying that though as I put the hole through the wall for the engineer he upgraded my downstairs box to the 2tb one and put a sky+ box in the bedroom so overall am quite happy and they won't be charging me the extra fiver a month for a couple of months.
As much as I hate to say it I have been without sky for about two and a half years and not missed it but.........the quality of the HD signals and the way their box works is second to none. If only they could keep the costs down instead of subsidising premier league footballer's lifestyles the better the prices would be.

the way i done it was phone the 033 number the OP used and said i was going to cancel it , then it came down to £14 for the package im on now the free one and when i asked about pay as you use it the price dropped down to £10 as in my other post im already on a mobile contract so i dont need the free evenings and weekend calls , but i also have the option of going on that package if i want to but it will still only go up to £14 a month

28 May 16#49
ive just got the same price as the OP for 12 months , at £10 ,but you have to change the call package to pay as you use it , im on a mobile phone contract so i dont need to use the house phone but its still the same package so im happy

He's what's known as a bullsh*tter. I work with one, can spot them a mile off, knew the first day I met him. They're tricky people, they will try and bullsh*t their way out of everything and anything. Very untrust worthy people and will also stab you in the back if it means them getting off the hook.

Yeah best I got offered on fibre was £10pm for 12 months plus line rental, so £27.40pm

currently fibre installation is free. the £50 thing needs removing. SSE never ever charge for postage, install, fibre install, engineer, router.
Kreskin
28 May 161#36
They seem to want to charge £50 for fibre "installation" which is a bit steep. Also Caller ID is £3.50 a month which costs £63 over the term of the contract. Then there's the fact that they perform traffic shaping. It's going to be great for a lot of people no doubt but it's as well to be aware of what you're getting into when it's an 18 month contract.

Blimey doesn't time fly!
I actually signed up for the free line installation/telephone/BB (second line - total cost for year £8 ) around Sept, so still have a few months to go. It's been great. All XBOX/PS4 and other downloads via that line and normal internet use via the main line. Will miss it when it runs out, but hopefully there will be another similar offer around then.

Went to cancellations on Thursday as my free broadband offer from last year was finishing soon too. Will just pay 12 months line rental with free broadband £17.40 a month I believe. Anyway the reason for my post is that I didn't haggle, I literally snapped up their first offer because I didn't really want to switch and was looking for something about the same price as what I'd have had to switch to,eg TalkTalk or plus net. Anyway whilst regretting being gung-ho this might help others as my offer might be their benchmark or average. Good luck. As others have mentioned mustn't grumble, last years deal was amazing.

I work for Sky and can confirm you will get put on active block after not playing bills for a few months. Services then get disabled and only reactivated once the debt is paid.
Regarding cancelling and rejoining... you will still stay linked to old accounts if you live at the same address or have the same bank details, etc so the debt will just flag up again..
How does that guy even get past the credit check?! His rating must be awful... and all to get cheaper TV.. doesn't sound like a very wise man!

Very hard to believe as Sky switch off the TV around 3-4 weeks after non payment so if he pays a month, the most he will get is 2 months TV, then if he waits till month 6 before getting them switched back on (which they wouldn't do without him paying arrears) then he's gone 4 months without any services, so he might not have paid for 3 years, but he won't have had any service from them for that time either, so hardly free Sky!
BIGUSHEADUS
28 May 16#7
Jesus I could only get 3 months free, we've been with them for nearly 7 years now and I really pushed to even get 3 months...
Is there any way to get a better deal if you've just accepted a contact with them??

28 May 16#12
I know ow sky can be funny with loyalty, like every other company.
The deal myself and others signed up to last year was a special offer, a great one tbh. It just cost us 6£ for the whole year for phone and bb. I didn't make any changes to my package, so I'm not sure of that helps with getting a cheaper deal. There's a guy I work with who claims he hasn't paid for sky for the last 3years or so. He paid for his first month, then doesn't pay any of his bills. 6 months later, Sky contact him to write off the account bill of he's willing to sign up for a different contract, which he accepts and then doesn't pay again. He repeats the process and done so for the last 3yrs. Hard to believe though.

Dont phone,do it online chat?but i would advise just leaving as the best deal will be given to you after you leave by going back into your account and clicking the left sky in the last 12 months link, should get at least 60% that way or more.
Opening post

And it's fibre!
Don't compare your line speeds to others on a forum unless you all live in the same neighbourhood. Location is a big factor in determining speeds. I get around 11mbits peak on sky, I got similar on BT too.
So don't know if I manage to get the £10 offer is it worth paying the extra £10 for fibre? Just presumed it was speed capped as it was free. But others seem to have had faster speeds.

Cancellation charges
You can find out more about early cancellation charges in our EE TV, Broadband & Home Phone Price Guide, prices effective 1st June 2016 (.pdf).
EARLY CANCELLATION CHARGES on page 20.
Find out more>
Only £1 per month for 12 months*

My Sky TV is up for renewal next month, probably tell them where to go with that too
Gave my notice to leave Sky all together.
However, Sky sends an email or calls you with a last offer I've read?
Tried 4 times on live chat to get a discount on line rental but each time I was told there were no discounts on line rental.
FINALLY Today i decided to call of the number provided and informed that many people offered the deal of 10£PM line rental. lady initially refused then agreed to offer 10£.
the email i receive says 7.40£ discount on SKY talk Line rental.i hope the price will remain 10£.
Fibre Unlimited £10.00 PM
Line Rental £10.00 PM
12 Month Contract
Was paying £19.99 for Sport thats going up to £21.99 this month. £23.75 all in for 12 months so £1.76 more for line rental and unlimited broadband than BT Sports solo.
Top cashback was £146  So BT line, unlimited broadband, and BT Sport £140, thats £11.66 a month then £75 Mastercard = £5.83 a month
Roll over to BT on 30th June, the day before Sky start charging full price
I used the same number as the OP. 03332 022135
Cheers
I can still cancel in next 14 days without paying early termination charges. so will look for better rates :-))
Would have to get fibre next time but sadly virgin don't have cable at my flat so im stuck with these terrible BT and Sky line rental prices.
Fibre £20.00 PM
Line Rental £17.40
Anytime Extra £8.00
£45.50 PM
I contacted Sky by LiveChat yesterday and told them about the offer but I was told all I could be offered was half price broadband and full line rental.
Today I called Sky on number given here. Spoke to a really nice lady and told her about the offer and LiveChat offer. I was offered the same offer I'm on now. I refused the offer and she then kindly checked the system and offered me the deal for £10.
Thank you so much.
That'll be time for further negotion-
Did u mentioned the deal urself or they offered you ?
I've still got the letter, I considered framing it lol I've never let anyone say a bad thing about sky's customer service in my presence since haha
We must have a phone line as well to qualify for broadband and costs £41.49 a month. Not fibre either. Best I get is 5mbps download. Stick Sky on top of that and you soon realise that all you guys who have a BT line are very lucky.
Settled for
Fibre BB unlimited
Sky Variety & Sky Sports bundle
Talk anytime extra
£49.15 first 6 months
£53.15 remaining 6 months.
(Price agreed guarantee for 2 months)
Seemed decent enough for me.
If only they could keep the costs down instead of subsidising premier league footballer's lifestyles the better the prices would be.
and it's same about all of them.
I will report back
I'm with SKY ADSL but can get Fibre & Cable. It's the best what I can get based on my line & area. Just rotating between ISP's, all dependant on the best offers. No loyalty from me.
title is misleading.
Would of jumped to Virgin but they never got back to me after submitting 2 requests online and 3 phone calls :disappointed:
