After buying the 49" Sony 4K TV from an earlier deal, this post has found me a 4K upscaling Sony BDP-S7200 in very good used condition for £72.42 which is a massive saving off new price - many thanks to the poster.

As far as I know, they all tend to be fairly quiet.

Mine (some Sony model, can't remember the number) hums a fair bit and it is quite annoying during the quiet bits in films! Recommendations for a super quiet model would also be appreciated.

If you get the right blu-ray player it comes with amazon prime, netflix, sony PS all built in, just add internet, some with wifi, some with ethernet, so blu-ray plus these = nearly future proof.

Certainly
I am after a home cinema at a bargain price that is DVD and maybe three or five speakers.
Would prefer Samsung because my TV is Samsung but happy to consider anything that is a deal because I am getting a new TV too

I've only ever owned 2 bluray players, but my current is the Sony BDPS1200, which I've not noticed being particular noisy. you occasionally hear it reading the disc, but not constantly. I'm happy with it, but I dare say there are quieter players out there.

13 May 16#27
Those apps won't be supported forever so if anything they're less future proof.

I have a Sony 4K TV but didn't upgrade to a 4K upscaling Blu-Ray player as I thought the TV already upscales.
Is it better buying a separate device to upscale, or does the TV do a good enough job?

That's an expensive blu-ray player!

And a lot of damaged customers.
Can't believe all these sloppy seconds are going hot. It's basically like a used goods lottery. Why not just get down the car boot sale. I mean at least you can actually SEE what you're buying. Yes yes "oh I can just return it if I'm not satisfied". What fun it must be getting some messed up second hand player, all ready to watch your favourite films on, only to find it's cracked or whatever, having to box it all up, go down the Post Office, send it back off, wait for another one to turn up, possibly have the same problem again. These days decent branded blu-ray players really aren't much more than the 3 prices listed here for brand new - as has been proved many times on this site. And that's always the sensible option.

I've bought several Amazon Warehouse items in the past and I've mainly had good experiences. I will continue to order from them many times in the future I would imagine. I am probably in the majority here too.

My old bluray player won't play xmen days of future past because of Sony security measures on disc so I'm looking for a new one.
Must be multiregion hackable though - any recommendations

Does seem a bit of a lottery but plenty of HUKDs members seem to get almost new product. I must have been unlucky as both items I've ordered from Amazon warehouse have looked like they had been found in a skip.

still expensive for used imo. blu ray players never seem to come down in price
dazco
13 May 16#38
Yeah, problem is, I don't know a truly discounted model from one with a pretend discount.
However I have been doing my homework and settled on this one
I know it's down to personal experience but I've bought my share of Amazon warehouse items and the majority have been like new or as good as I expected...as long as you buy knowing you MIGHT end up returning it then where's the problem? If you'd rather pay full price and be sure of a brand new item that's your prerogative.

You've bought a 4k telly and want to buy a blu ray player? The tv will upscale to 4k better than the player will . YOU do realise it's not an actual 4k player?
afroylnt
13 May 16#44
Interesting; any test results out there you can point to that backups up a 4k TV will scale better than a 4k upscale blu-ray player?
Trevanator
13 May 16#45
I wondered this when he posted, so I did a quick search and lots of forums suggest leaving the upscaling to a TV, therefore rendering the 4k upscaling Blu-ray player a bit pointless. Having said that, the BDP-S7200 is still a very good choice IMO.

what is Blu Ray? is it a kind of physical torrent player?
Blueray is a thing of the past... people moaning about noise too is why they are now obsolete!
Usb playback is silent and every movie is stored in one place, no clutter no damaged discs ect 100000000 times better way to watch movies.

13 May 16#55
Really? you can get blu ray players from about £40, that's not much more than a DVD player which in turn isn't much more (or any more) than a CD player. I think it remarkable you can get a half decent high definition player for under £100 let alone under £50 - technology really is incredibly cheap when you look back at how the price keeps falling and the features keep increasing.

People still love to own a physical item though, a disc, a record, a DVD..... a small stack of USB sticks just isn't the same

Heat heat heat. Amazingly nearly 24 hours on there are still a few Sony S7200s available at £72-odd. I've avoided the "used-good" one with a scratch in every area but that's about £64 if someone fancies it! I know they're only clearing stock for this year's range but these are good deals. I know hit and miss with Warehouse but nothing lost if I have to return it.

My Sony arrived today,as described (very good-packaging damaged) BUT included 2 extras,a dead wasp and what looks like a plant seed, and excluded something quite important THE REMOTE CONTROL !!
Good to see the QA @ Amazon is up to scratch.

That's annoying. Amazon will give you a partial refund if you don't want to return it and the wasp. Maybe this is the perfect opportunity to buy a Logitech universal remote control from the Warehouse like I did! :stuck_out_tongue:
Opening post
There's some pretty good deals on Blu-ray players in my opinion, these include:
Sony BDP-S7200 £72.42 (Used - Very Good)
Panasonic DMP-BD83EB-K £30.51 (Used - Very Good)
LG BP250 £28.63 (Used - Very Good)
